Fallout 3 was a great game and I liked it more than Oblivion as that game was by far the most disappointing game I have ever played. Oblivion was still a good game but wow was it nothing compared to Morrowind.
I preferred Fallout to Oblivion. I found that the combat system in Fallout felt more realized, instead of just me constantly hitting right trigger to slash a sword in Oblivion, and I preferred the grittier and more mature tone that Fallout had.
I love Fallout 3, but Oblivion by far. It had way more sidequests, a better story, many guilds, the arena, more enemy types, better characters and it's still a beautiful game.
Ah well i like oblivion because you can spend countless hours on it and fallout 3 you only spend 5 or 6 hours. But my favorite is halo3 SilentAssasin67
I've put around 200 hours into Oblivion and 110 into Fallout 3. You obviously just played through the main quest in Fallout.
ive played both of em +100 hrs. and both are awesome games. but i think ill go with fallout 3 just bc i love shooting things more then swinging a sword.
oblivion all the way.....so much more to do/explore, especially with the added expansion. One of the greatest games i've ever played, when i first got it i played all night all day. That was a year ago and i still play it today!
For me Oblivion pulled me in a bit more with the atmosphere and the story. Fallout 3 is amazing but it wasn't nearly as fun of a place to be with the dreary scenery. I'm still working on FO3 though. Maybe I'll change my mind after Iprogress through the story a little more.
Exploration-wise ...Oblivion was just a muchnicer place to hang out.

I enjoyed both and got 1000/1000 Achievements for both but it seems like I played Fallout 3 more and will play it more with all these DLC coming and GOTY edition coming.
Both are great, but Oblivion has far more depth in your ability to customize your character and lots more sidequests. It's one of only 2 current-gen games that I'd put in my all-time top 10 list.
I am currently replayed through Oblivion after a bought of Fallout obsession. On my old tag I had completed more or less the main quest but now having to restart and played Fallout for months I am not getting into Oblivion the same. I look at it and go "Fallout did it better". Which is wrong but I feel the general setting and story to Fallout is just more appealing.
