Fallout New Vegas Reviews

I smell BS. The game is out Monday at Midnight and it's friday and not a single review. Plus, Game Informer reviewed Vanquish and released that score which comes out the same day as Fallout. I guarantee it's buggy POS with screen tearing galore. It may be fun, but the game will be a technical mess which is sad. And I'm not hoping this happens, I just see it coming.

well it has been made by obsidian so there is no guarantee they even finished it(im still sore over the mess they made of kotor 2).

it's up to the publishers when reviewers are allowed to post reviews.

reviewers don't post reviews just because they can.

why do you think ign, gamespot and gametrailers post their reviews at about the same time?

of course there are other factors like the time of date in which the reviewers get a copy of the game.

It won't fail, at least I hope.

Yes guys, this is the exact point of this thread. I don't want to spend my money until I know the game isn't a broken game. Fallout 3 was handled by a more talented developer and they had major problems getting both versions on par with each other(both versions have their own problems) so I'm a bit worried that Obsidian may fail. If the game was good, they would want the reviews out ASAP. Not after launch once everyone realizes they bought a buggy/glitchy/broken game.

Why don't you people understand that when a company give something to a reviewing website that they must agree to terms... they are not alowed to release any infomation about the game unless the publishers give a green for go...

KOTOR 2 played better than the first one, combat was easier, the influence system over the other characters was awesome and the way different characters joining depending on your relationahip with the force or gender, but... the ending was very obviously rushed to meet a deadline, too many loose ends and an unsatisfactory final battle left me feeling a little cheated.

Fallout is an RPG... 50hours maybe?, Vanquish is not 10-15 hours?...I don't care about reviews i'm getting the game if it scores 1s...but I'd rather have a late review then a rushed one.-Hoax-

I smell a troll. LMAO this kid is funny... Reviews come in early if the game has been played properly and the reviewers have been given a copy in enough time to review the game. IE: Starcraft 2 most reviewers didnt get a copy to review til the day of release. Where did you even get your "technical mess" statement, did you play the game already or something? NOOOOOO so go back under your bridge :P

What part of review ban didn't you understand... Wow people seriously it mean the publisher doesnt want ANY information about the game leaked before a certain date of time it happens all the time...

If this game scores less that 8.5, I will be shocked.

The fact that there isno early review means nothing.

Halo Reach didn't receive reviews til its release date, and it scored very well.

INORITE? I am buying the game day one regardless of reviews anyways i loved fallout 3 i dont think they are going to stray to far off the already award winning path.

I don't have any problem understanding that at all. I'm just wondering why they don't want reviews going out before the game hits shelves. If you have a good game and you know it's going to get good reviews you'll want to get those good reviews out there ASAP to help build hype and sell games. If you are worried or think the game might get torn apart by the critics, then you'll want to delay the reviews from getting into consumers' hands until they've already spent the money to buy the game.

I loved Fallout 3, have been really excited for New Vegas, and this was going to be a day 1 purchase for me. Now I'm not so sure. Not because I generally care about reviews (I don't), but because the devs are acting like they're not so proud of their product by putting a gag order on reviewers.

And sorry, but a gameplay video clip is not the same as a professional reviewer giving an assessment of an overall product.

I'm still excited for this game, but I think I might hold off a few days and make sure I'm not buying a broken mess first.

As I said in the above post, my question is "WHY?" It's not very difficult to understand what my issue was, but apparently you couldn't grasp it?

And yes, I have seen review bans happen to a lot of games... and many of them ended up getting very poor reviews. Maybe Halo got good reviews under similar circumstances... I dunno because I don't play those games. That doesn't mean this particular game is guaranteed to be a hit. Not to mention any game with Halo is going to sell about a trillion copies anyways... a review ban on a Halo game makes perfect sense. A review ban on a game you're trying to build hype for does not.

A review has way more spoilers in it than a simple video showing a guy shooting a radscorpion or mutant, and the publisher already gave the green light to have the gameplay video released NOT THE REVIEW. Im sorry if you dont understand that but that is part of business, and I find it funny you gave fallout 3 a 9.5 and yet you dont know if you want to get the newly improved better game?

halo reach = review ban = Game of the year, so your logic is extremely flawed... Fallout 3 was game of the year as well so the succesor of this franchise will most likely have a review lockout it is again part of business. Saying OMG REVIEWS NOT OUT OMG IT MUST SUXXOR is childish and is nothing more than trolling. Which he has obviously done well if we are bickering in his thread.

Plenty of games aren't reviewed till the day of release, some not till days after and still get good reviews. It's not like movie reviews where if the review is missing the day it's out in theaters you know it stinks.

I only have one concern about this game. Fallout 3 became excessively easy, at least in my opinion, about half way through. I still loved it, but after gaining a few levels it lost its difficulty. I know they put in the hardcore mode, which I will defiantly play when I get it, but is that going to make it too hard??Jachael

This is the reason i changed the difficulty setting. Play on "VERY HARD" and it is somewhat of a challenge. Better than losing interest in the game anyway (which is impossible to be honest, for me at least)

Fallout 3 is at 93 on Metacritic, 9.0 on Gamespot and attained various awards, including GOTY from IGN. The game doesn't suck.

That is a completely subjective statement sir, i do agree however the game was nearly broken and crashed both my PS3 and 360 numerous times. Still, the game is out tonight midnight and still no reviews from any credible outlets?? I will be amazed if this game gets good scores. IGN reviewed Vanquish an 8.5 and it's out tonight as well, where is their New Vegas review? And don't give me that crap that it takes 50 hours of gameplay to review it blah blah blah. They have likely had the game for at least two weeks which gives them more than enough ample time to write a proper review.

Still, the game is out tonight midnight and still no reviews from any credible outlets?? I will be amazed if this game gets good scores.

There must be some sort of review embargo up, expect reviews tomorrow. Not expecting this game to be revolutionary or anything, but it should be fun.
