you can skip GNR and head right to Rivet city if you want. I have done it before.

yeah, i dont really know what your question is here. you can do anything mostly in any order. blowing up megaton is a quest like any other. all it DOESNT allow you it to (possible spoilers) have your own room in megaton after completing another quest, cant remember which (end spoilers) so yeah, if your asking what you need to do, do anything quest. go to your pip boy, high light one, and it should tell you where to go, what to do, irregardless of whether megaton is a city or a cratermattg90520
