easily the first one that was the best FPS honestly until HL 2 came out.. It's one of the 5 best shooters of all time(no I'm not a fan boy), and it's one of the top 20 games of all time... Halo 2 and 3 are great games and in multiplayer are way better than Halo is but that's the only thing you can say is better about those two oh and graphics but that doesn't count.
Best console FPS is stretching it a bit IMO.Shade-Blade
not really Halo was great the best console FPSat one point in time was Goldeneye then whenPerfect Dark came out itbeat it than when Halo came out that was it. Honestly unless you consider Gears an FPS(which it isn't) there hasn't been a better CONSOLE FPS than has beat the original Halo. There are a couple of PC shooters that are better than Halo though.
