I know it's an old(ish) game, but the forum for it is pretty dead. I just bought my 360 less than 2 weeks ago and breezed the Ultimate Alliance and CoD 4, and wanted another game to kill my time between now and my bday/x-mas next month. I picked up Crackdown, beat it in a few days, fun but disappointingly short. So I traded it in for F.E.A.R. The reviews I've read have been positive and the selection of used games at my gamestop was pretty limited so that's what I ended up with. I;ve played for about an hour so far, and it has been OK. The movement, guns, animation seem alright, nothing too special...at least by today's standards. The reason I bought it and the aspect that has been more or less delivering is the creepy/ghost aspect of it.

My questions are:

is the online community still somewhat active?

what are you're opinions of the game as a whole (spoiler free, i hope)

I believe FEAR is pretty dead online. But I can't say for sure as I don't have it on the 360. But overall, it's definitely one of the better shooters I've ever played. The AI is absolutely amazing but a downside to the game is that it may get repetitive. And like you said, it's pretty old.

You need to play games on the harder difficulty settings. I'm playing through COD4 on Hard on my first play through and I'm not breezing through it. It is quite hard. I played Halo 3 and Bioshock on hard on my first plays through too. Normal mode is for people who suck at games. I love F.E.A.R. I've beat it on extreme difficulty. Gonna pick up FEAR Files once I've beat COD4 and Assassins Creed.

My opinion of FEAR? It had some creepy bits in it, and the slo mo was good fun. But almost every level in it felt the same. I swear half the game was spent in ONE building....

i bought FEAR around this time last year for 360 and the single player was awesome, really creepy. The online was dead from the day i got it, due to the release of gears of war last year.

That's BS. Most games don't even know how to create a hard difficulty setting without making it unfair. There are only a few games I came across who really shined on their hardest difficulty. That being Ninja Gaiden and NG Black, COD2, COD4 (as far as I'm in) and FEAR. I can't remember many others but there are loads of suberb rated titles out there that are amazing, but generally suck on the hardest difficulty setting because it's not done right.

I loved everything about this game. The MP, I would face the same opponents most of the time but it was great. I don't know if many people still play online. Deathmatch was my fav mode.

I loved the game, had some creapy parts. It seemed to take forever to beat. My main dissapointment with the game was when I beat it I only had 80 gamerpoints, which is kinda silly. IMO if you beat a campaign on normal difficulty you should at least get a couple hundred by the end. Oh well.
