No carrier is faster just because...
It matters solely on the method of shipping you choose through the shipping carrier. Such as Next-Day Air, 3 Day Select, Ground, and so forth.
Both Fed-Ex and UPS offer the exact same services. So depending on the type of shipping method chosen through that company will determine the length of shipping time. Hence, research.
