Has anyone else played a game and not enjoyed it but feel they gotta do it?

I'm feeling this so much with mw2 so much right now, Sure Me and my friend are going to play some games but

"Naw,... I gotta prestige," Or gotta level up

I've felt this with other games, but not really anything else lately, right now I feel like crap and I'm finishing all my games negative, but I feel a need to keep on playing even though its just frustrating me and i'm not enjoying it at all.

Anyone else feel like this sometimes? But for now.. I think I'm gonna just go lie down and play some dragon age.. A nice, relaxing expirience.

haha, isnt this a sign that you might be a video game addict? If your not enjoying it why not just lay it down or switch games.... Maybe its time to join GA (Gamer's Anonymous) LMAO. I've been a member since the time the NES came out.

Well I'm only addicted when I have nothing better to do, I live on a farm my parents are at work most of the time so I have no way into are small little town to hang out with my friends.

And also, I'm not sure, I mainly wanna level to keep up with my friends.

But ,, sure I guess I can be pretty addicted some times.. lol

Yeah I tend to grind through games till the end most the time. Even if the game gets tedious or boring I'll usually grind through till completion. I hate having stacks of games that I own that I haven't beat. I make a concious effort to finish games and get my full money's worth out of it. But sometimes certian games just totally lose thier fun factor and I forget about them and usually end up selling them back to gamestop.

The last time I felt like I was grinding against my will was with Far Cry 2. Talk about a **** ending after all the driving and grinding! I wish I could sell my PC games back! But I guess I'll have to just keep snapping the discs and burning the boxes. lol.

That happened to me in a *certain* MMO. Also, achievements tend to make things chores sometimes too.

When people begin to talk about a hobby being a CHORE, it means they are doing the hobby WAY too much. I can only imagine that you play video games at an unnatural rate lol.

MW2 can feel like that when they respawn the enemy right next to me.. Seriously whenever I play Afghan they seem to love to respawn the enemy beside me. Fix the respawns IW it's getting very annoying.

FC2 is my one game that I could not stand trying to beat. It's not that it isn't fun, but the driving is so tedious and it becomes really frustrating. The game would be like 5 hours long if you didn't have to drive so damn far.

Sometimes. There's a fine line between a game that's genuinely not fun, and one that's hard, but I'll feel very satisfied having beaten. Was every single Spec Ops mission on Veteran fun at every single moment? Hell no. Did I get a sense of satisfaction for getting all 69 stars? Of course.

I generally play a game even if I don't love it since, you know, I bought it. At least beat it. And like with Modern Warfare 2, if I know I can get all the gamerscore easily then I'll finish it up even if the last bit is frustrating. But with completely terrible games like Sonic the Hedgehog(2006) or completely dull games with no driving motivation like Lego Batman I'll drop them in an hour or so.

Occasionally this will happen to me. What I do is switch up my classes and never keep things the same unless I find something that both works and I can enjoy doing. For example I enjoy running into the middle of the map, but I dont enjoy the death that comes with it. I enjoy doing well camping, but get seriously bored after about 3 minutes. I find that if I find a mix of the two, I get both a successful and fun game.

I can't take long stretches of Mw2's mp, but I find it really fun for a couple matches at a time. And I can't really play Lost Odyssey anymore. Halfway through the disc it became so insanely boring despite the great story

You don't have to prestige (I didn't lol, like my camo too much). I know people playing glitched matches and fake live accounts to level up, now that's a chore.

Yep, I've got a perfect example (From my experience) too! Dead Rising. When I first started, I loved the game, Bashing up zombies with all sorts of items was pretty dang fun. However, following the story and constantly being timed? Not fun. It seriously felt like a chore. Always being timed, if I'm not on time I miss out on some stuff ect. I'd rather not spend my precious gaming time looking at a map, trying to figure out where to go, how to get there and where to go first. :P I left the game alone for a while and even have given it a few more chances, but now it serves as a fun distraction. I only play it to beat up zombies now. :P Maybe someday Dead Rising...maybe someday. As for games that felt like a chore that I had the need to finish, Baja Edge of Control comes to mind. I loved the game, don't get me wrong, but when I made the decision to go for 1000/1000, I ended up spending 30 hours more than I had anticipated to reach that mark. The hidden areas were time consuming, some of the career races were brutal and then spending another four hours replaying career races just to reach 2000 miles raced in career mode? Super boring, felt like a chore..but man..the satisfaction! Perhaps that is why I did it. If you have a lot of fun playing a game, when you finish it, it seems just like that...a game. But when you actually encounter challenge, frustration and occasionally very disliked portions of the game, you feel like you truly have made some accomplishments. :P I don't know. Usually I play for fun and if I get bored or it starts to feel like a chore, I stop. Simple as that. I play for fun and if I'm not having fun, what's the point of playing? A few select games get my attention as ones I want to complete entirely, but for the most part: "If it feels like a chore, stop."

no kidding, this is the only part of the game I cannot stand. i would rather have people using "sniper" 1887s than respawing behind me when i am sneaking up behind the entire enemy team

OH and I too play MW2 to seemingly no end. I am 1st Prestige lvl 61, I have no idea how anyone could be further than that, I am ALWAYS playing it. Damn Boosters and their 10th prestiges...

Yeah it's a chore to play bad games, however it's popular so when I see a friend playing it I say "Hey, let me give this flaming piece of **** another try"

Then I play 2 minutes and remember why I moved on to better games, like Rogue Warrior and Vampire Rain.

sadly yes....

glad I bought L4D2, haven't played a better game in years without feeling like I *have* to get this/that. It seems to be the games with online scores mostly, you'll never be #1, but you keep playing and unlocking stuff etc.

Go play the first Assassin's Creed... nuff said. Over 400 flags to collect in that game scattered across the huge maps... and then there were the Templars you had to find and kill.. also scattered throughout the maps. This game takes collection achievements to a whole new level.

lol not my idea of fun.. the sad thing is I actually attempted to get those flags. I got a bunch of maps online and started a checklist and went through each corner of the game hunting for them. After a few hours of this I got a major headache and decided it wasn't worth it. Did you get the feathers in AC2? They were such a delight to find compared to the flags/templars. Not to mention in the DNA sequence the game tells you exactly which city, and even better, which district you need to look in.

No when I get sick of a game I stop playing. If i'm trying to beat a game and I get frustrated I might put it donw for a while then come back later. When I got frustrated with CoD4 veteran campaign I put it down for like 10 months came back and beat the last 5 levels in one sitting.

Eh the models aren't even that great. There are better Akimbo weapons than that. Duel-wielding M90 Raffica's is easily ten times better.
