1.is it simple to set up?

how long does it take?

2.sense i dont have a wireless router in my home can it pick up a connection from somewhere else?

My friends didnt have a router and they got a network from somewhere else so i know its possible, but does it pick it up all the time, when u setted up yours did it pick up a network from somewhere else?

3.is it a reliable

Even tho my enternet(my pc)stays on for longs periods of time there is a time where something might come up and my mom cant pay the enternet, which is the reason i want a adapter so i dont have to rely on my enternet to stay on, so i need to know does the adapter usually break have yours ever broke?

4.How many connections?

When setting up your adapter how many connections did u get,is there a limt of how many connections the adapter can pick up?

5.in your opinon is it simply worth the $100 spent?

How did u feel after setting it up and playing on the connection, did u regret it? or did u feel its a great buy and felt u would reccommend it to anyone.

thx to all who reply;)

1. It's easy as hell, it took me 10 seconds. 2. Depends if it's close and if you know the password if it's secured. 3. Yes, it's very good. 4. I only got 1, wich is my own. 5. I got it in a package with 3 months of gold and 800 M$ points, so yeah. I think it was a great buy and I recommend it fully to anyone. :D

1. Very simple to setup and easy to connect to the internet. It takes all of 10 seconds, plug it in to the XBOX and you're about done. 2. Possibly you can find a connection. There isn't a definite answer to this and all depends on if anyone is using a wireless router in your area. Most wireless connections have a WEP security code which is up to 8 digits in order to connect to their internet connection, so you won't be able to use those connections. If there is an open connection with no security put on it, then you can connect to it, but it may not be a fast connection. At times my connection would be screwed up and so I'd connect to someone elses in the area, it worked really well MOST OF THE TIME, but not all the time. Also, one day the connection was just gone and I couldn't connect anymore, so maybe the guy got sick of having me hog his bandwith, So it's nothing that you can rely on 100%. 3. Yes it's reliable as long as you have a reliable connection. It doesn't matter if your PC is on or off, but you will need a working internet connection. 4. When setting up my adapter there was about 6 different connections to choose from. One was my own and most of the others were locked. You can only choose 1 connection to connect to at one time though and this will all depend on how many connections the adapter finds within the area. 5. Not really worth $100. Why? Because there is a new wireless adapter coming out before the end of the year which is supposed to give a much bette connection (it's what I'm waiting on) The wireless N adapter. However, the current wireless adapter is now being sold on Amazon for $75 new and you can possibly even find it for $70 new right now. The price is dropping with the new wireless-n coming out so you should be able to get one new for about $70. I felt good after setting it up, however, I'm 2 floors up from my router (which causes some interference). I also had 2 Pc's, Wii, PS3, and 360 connected at once, so my 360's connection wasn't that good. But, I'd definitely recommend it to anyone with a wireless router and a reliable wireless connection to connect to.

@Sonny360Elite:

i played my DS lite online before and i connected to a access point wirelessly, so i can connect to that access point with the adapter right? and the 360 wireless adapter has to have a stronger search for a access point than a DS im sure, so it should pick that access point up with no problem right?

thx

Yes it's very simple and reliable. Worth the money. I have had no issues with it whatsoever and lag is almost never an issue unless someone is sucking up all the bandwidth in your house. So yes I would highly suggest it.

1. Yeah its really easy 2. Yes it will pick it up, but you'll only be able to use a connection that isn't secured (unless you magically figure out they're password). You probably won't get a very strong connection either. 3. I;ve had it for 4 months and its been very reliable so far for me. I haven't been disconnected even once. 4. It'll pick up as many as there are that are close. Mine picked up about 20 or so. 5. It is a bit hard to recommend to you if you don't have a wireless router of your own. Its entirely dependent on other people's connections and it doesn't seem worth it to spend that much to just hope to get a good connection. If you get a wireless router then I would say its more of a question of how valuable is online gaming to you. If its something that is very important then go for it.

Most wireless connections have a WEP security code which is up to 8 digits in order to connect to their internet connection, so you won't be able to use those connections.

Most connections use WPA now due to how insecure WEP was. WPA keys vary in length.

The wireless N would only be worth it if you can use the extra speed. If the router only goes up to G, then there's no point in waiting for the N because it'll still only be working at G speeds.Sonny360Elite

TC, it depends on what you want, but I just found out that a regular ethernet cable is much better than the wireless. Just yesterday I bought wireless adapter and router to try it out. $100 + $44 + tax just to find out it sucks compared to the 50' cable I was unrolling every time I wanted to connect to Xbox Live. So I'm going to take the router and adapter back to Wal-mart and get my money back. It was noticeably laggy, and I could only get a few green bars on Netflix movies when before I was getting full HD quality with the cable. I'll stick to the physical cable and spend the $144 on games.

The official Xbox 360 wireless adapter is extremely overpriced. I use a Netgear adapter I bought years ago for my original Xbox for like $25 on sale at circuit city and I don't experience any lag or anything. In fact, I get everything I stream on netflix in HD if it's offered. The only problem I've had is that I have to do a quick connection test every time I turn on the console. And I'm not even sure if the official adapter would fix that... it might just be some kind of DNS thing in my settings or something. And even if it did fix it... I'd rather suffer the minor inconvenience of having to do a 20-second connection test than shell out a hundred bucks for something that should cost no more than half that.

I'd suggest looking online and seeing which third party gaming adapters work with the 360 and picking up an inexpensive one. There's absolutely no reason that a wireless adapter like the one they're selling should be priced at $100. And definitely don't spend that much if you're not even sure if there's any bandwidth to steal in your neighborhood.

He is right, you can just use another adapter that connects with ethernet. I used a Linksys Wireless-G for a long time.
