I'm on chap 10, but i heard you can easy grind gil and cp on chapter 11. Try that out. I'm on chapter 10 and just got lvl 61 for lightning weapon, i did some grinding early.
(obvious small spoiler) when i first got to gran pulse before i went into the cave area i had 2/3 main arms of the crystarium full and went through easy, you can level up on king behemoths also.
Go to Yaschas Massif - Tsumitran Basin and fight the King Behemoths and Triffids. Should give some nice crystalgen points if your party is kinda weak. Never hurts to pre-empt. them either. :P
