Which is better you mean? I was a huge PES fan, but I've been havin to swallow some setbacks and so little innovation that Konami has introduced to this game. I was heartbroken when they released PES2007 version with no player editing mode.... how's that possible?!?!?!?!?! PES2008 was lame, no innovation. This year's version, maybe with the new addition of the UCL, they can still keep some fans on their side, but come on!!!, FiFa has the UCL since like 1997. Even though I used to love PES and WE, this year I'm gonna have to pick Fifa09 and try some of that online 10vs10matches, even though I really don't like Fifa's physics and plauer movility... I hope I can get use to both. So... FIFA09.

Never liked PES, Fifa was always better but in Fifa 08 i hated the reaction commands.
But i still go with fifa, better online play / competition.

Only thing EA needs to do is get Ronaldinho off the dam cover and put Ronaldo.

I'm in the same boat as you. PES/WE has been my soccer game of choice since the PS2. But this years FIFA looks very good and I don't think I could pass up 10vs10 online matches.

I would say Fifa has been excellent in the last 2-3 years, most of my friends were PES fans but now most of them have actually switched to Fifa, not because PES got bad but because Fifa has significantly improved over the last couple of years. We are now playing Euro 2008 most of the time and having a blast with it, its a good game.

Soccer games were never really my thing until FIFA '08. So i would guess that FIFA '09 would only be better.

You should also try Euro 2008, it's actually pretty good!

All the FIFA games have been getting better and better over the years starting with '07 when the gameplay felt more realistic and I've been hearing nothing but great things and the improvements that are going into FIFA 09 could make it one of the best soccer games to date.

PES for me still.I vowed not to pick up another FIFA game after FIFA 06 because that game was just awful but I'm glad that FIFA has made some major improvements since. There's no decision for me thoough,it has always been PES because of the superior Physics and AI and it is always more satisfying to score a goal in PES.

In my opinion, Fifa. I've always been a fan of the Fifa series and I've always got from it what I wanted to. Not just that but Fifa this year looks pretty strong, good online play and decent updates to the game.

I would have to say Fifa they have really impressed me since switching on to the 360 while PES has done nothing but disappoint so far im hoping this year it gets back to it's best but i can't say im confident and that is coming from a die hard PES fan up until the 360 PES games.

PES for me. Physics are so much better in PES. In FIFA tackling is the easiest thing in the world, I just hold down A and I get the ball all the time, might just be me. And I agree that scoring a goal in PES is much more satisfying than scoring a goal in FIFA.

Fifa 2009 is the choice to go with. Some people complain about fifa's gameplay, becuase you actually have to work on getting the play right. Fifa plays more realistic than pes. And that's why the same people who hate fifa's gameplay like pes gameplay, because it plays more like an arcade style and it's easier to manuver the players. Plus fifa having the teams license is a plus. The thing i hate about PES is when you make a pass it feels like you're kicking a piece of wood instead of a soccer ball.

PES, it's just more entertaining imo :) Played PES since ISS, Fifa before that.. I tried the demo for Fifa 2009, it has improved for sure! Still, PES is superior when it comes to having fun imo, and thats what counts in the end..

I've always prefered fifa and this year is no exeption. PES looks awful compared to fifa and it just doesn't feel like a proper football game. It also sounds as though you are booting about a basketball!

FIFa's graphics are top notch, the gameplay is smooth and realistic and the online play is fantastic- especially the new 'be a pro' 10 v 10 matches.

Haven't played PES 09 yet because it isn't out yet here but, like in the past 2 years, FIFA will most likely be better.

As for cover players: Cristiano Ronaldo and Deco. They rock.

I noticed how people have been saying they've played WE or PES since ages ago. But that doesn't mean you have the final say as to which is the better game. It has to be a non biased, rationalised view. In which, I've just played an exhibition game on PES2009 and 1 Uefa Champion's league match. Now Í'm going to shed some light on my PES2009 Thoughts.

Any Relevance to the PES2009 would be with reference to PES2008. We can tell that the player models are largely the same. Konami didn't bother with players like Rooney, Nani, Anderson the list goes on. I'm disgusted because over the year, i'm sure the players changed how they looked. Re-using models that suck is inexcusable.

Go look at idle players. They bend their knees and stretch out their arms. The physics system is awful. I do wonder if they have any at all. The GK mechanics are terrible. Though they save more shots, simple balls which roll away from them though almost next to them, they don't go after them. What bothers me, is that PES2009 plays like PES2008. I really look forward to threads comparing PES2009 and PES2008. It's a roster update(Which mind you is inaccurate, inexcusable considering the release date). What the deuce, you want me to purchase PES2010 to see Berbatov in Manchester? And for the bloody last time. Berbatov does not, I repeat does not look like Berbatov at all.

The commentary is dead awful period. Same commentators, Same script, some old cow manure. "it's the opener but it's come at the wrong end" Now, apart from blatantly doing a copy and paste of their commentary from PES2008. I haven't made any comparisons to FIFA related games until this point. All I can say is shame on you konami, you didn't even BOTHER to do a market study of your fiercest competitor. FIFA commentary makes you seriously wonder if there's a match on tv going on.

PES2009 is a lazy update of PES2008. Although I'd like to play it more. I really am saddened that PES2009 isn't life changing.

Even Euro 2008 is > PES2009. Way better.

I have been playing fifa since 2001 came out, and pes since pes 6. There are a few things you should consider before you buy fifa or pes 2009. 1: If you play on a console or on a pc. (PC --> choose PES, way better graphics then fifa) 2. If you play on console, you should consider: 1. coach mode 2. passing, gameplay. If you want a good coach mode, and also quite good graphics go with fifa. If coach doesn't matter to your, go with pes, it handles just a bit better then fifa, and also looks better. Right now, i play fifa, just because i get anxious if i lose with pes (don't seem to have that problem with fifa, though....)

PES 6 on the PC with Shollym's mod is just pure awesomeness! it EASILY trumps the new Fifa/PES games IMO. But, since this is a 360 forum given the choice between the new FIfa or PES games I guess I would go with Fifa. Fifa has come a long ways the last 3-4 years....

I bought FIFA 09 this year and was ashamed to say I like it at first....really liked it. So played it for about 4 months and every time I played it I got more bored ! The game looks sweet and plays well, It is just too boring ! MAnager mode is so thin that I had no urge to play more than 2 seasons, Be a pro was about half a season before I got bored. And I even found myself getting bored mid game. Every goal I scored prompted zero reaction or pride, it was just oh i score, the replay graphics are excellent but my goal looks a lot like one i scored last game.

So to sum up the game is very good technically in, I would say all areas, and plays a good game but it is BORING, not becasue it is too hard or more 'sim' like, just because it doesnt stir up any emotion.

So in the end I got PES 2009 last week and a vision camera to edit all my prem teams and I am loving the highs and the lows of fitba once more.

both good but PES for the pureist.

Peace out

Thierry Henry and Kaka should be on the cover of fifa09, they are the most influential players, ronaldo, ronaldinho and rooney are all hot and cold players, all 3 overrated, henry and kaka manipulate defences and win games. Personally fifa09 for me although the ball movements are far too quick and open, very unrealistic.

Yes he was good last season, no longer, because he has a lack of different techniques and oversteps and the flip flap are becoming more and more predictable. Hes a finisher not a creater, kaka and henry are both.

Kaka has done nothing of note for the past year and a half. Henry is good, but no way in hell is he the best creator or finisher in Barcelona. Eto'o is a better finisher. Xavi, Iniesta and Messi are all better creators (and all round players). Kaka is a good choice, but i dont think Henry at this point in his career is. Ronaldo is a better choice than both because of the season he had last year. This year he has scored 13 goals (the same as Gerrard) from midfield, yet is deemed to be having an average season (and Gerrard a great one). Different standards?

Anyhoo, on topic, I have always been a PES fanboy, since PES 2, but FIFA09 is so much more complete than PES 09. who cares that PES 09 has the champs league? big woop. these games have, and always will be about gameplay. For years FIFA lurked in the shadows and was only played by people who didnt know about football and wanted an arcade game. PES was always the real football fans' football game. But i think this year FIFA has finally come through with a game worthy of PES fanboys' attention. At first i scoffed at the idea that my beloved PES was not as good as a FIFA game (i mean, its a FIFA game, they are always crappy!!) then i played FIFA. And now i have fully converted. I still have a place for PES, but Konami needs to sort itself out and make PES great again.

Theo Walcott? are you serious? He hardly ever plays, and he's not that great. If i was going to pick anyone from the arsenal team it would be either Fabregas or Van Persie. Messi has already given his image rights to PES. Not sure Ribery has the marketing value of the other palyers that have been mentioned. Great player though, shame his talents are being wasted in the Bundesliga, he's be excellent in the premiership.

Wrong, walcott firmed his spot in the arsenal lineup earlier in the season and capped it off with a hatrick for england, then damaged his shoulder which is why he has lacked the gametime, he returns next week. Robin van persie is very talented but also inconsistent, speaking of the gunners (legends) arshavin would be another.

FIFA definitely.I mean, the two games have almost always been neck and neck but FIFA's pulled so far ahead since the 2007 versios were released that there's really no competition any more. Pro Evo 2008 on the Wii was much funner than the FIFA one but the new FIFA has completely surpassed it as well. Also, EA's always been ahead with the European Championship games and the World Cup games. The only god license PES has is the new Champions League license but that not enough to make a good game. Oh and regarding this discussion on who should be on the covers, I think Ronaldo should be on next year's FIFA. He's the World player of the year.
