I'm really disappointed that you can no longer do the punches with the buttons. I liked the controller setup that used the right stick for blocking and for power punches if you held a certain button. I think it was setup number 5 from fight night round 3.
Now you have no other option but to use the right joystick for all punches. I find it inaccurate and a pain in the ass. I don't even feel like doing the tutorial. Using the buttons for punches and the right stick for blocksdidn't put you at an advantage, it was just a different control setup. I don't see why they didn't include it.
thanks for the heads up :D
I queued it for when I get home. Too bad this demo didnt come out before UFC..
so theres not a button mashing configuration that you can change to?I'm really disappointed that you can no longer do the punches with the buttons. My gutt feeling is that im glad the parrys are not there no more...But i miss my configuration ...Hopefully i will get better with this fighting config...But it does feel some what weak esp when you are trying to block and counter back...DOES NOT FEEL RIGHT...For my taste ...I will try to get better thoough
Yeah I cant say im a fan of the whole "use the stick to do everything" approach many sports games are taking nowadays. Especially in EA Sports games like Fight Night and Madden...
[QUOTE="e575"]so theres not a button mashing configuration that you can change to? nope, just the "stick mashing" mode. I only say this because I never button mashed, and I thought the buttons were much more precise for punch control. I doubt I'll buy this game because of that, but i will give the stick mode a shot.I'm really disappointed that you can no longer do the punches with the buttons. It is an ok game.I am really not blown away by it.Sure it looks good and the commentators do a great job at the game, but it's just boxing. With ufc you get alot more difference in styles, not just punches.I am sure it will be a pretty good game, but not mind blowing.
I thought it was good, I haven't played the anything from the series since the first two games though. The controls are straight forward, presentation looks as it should and the fight mechanics are very accurate. The only thing I would've liked to see in the demo is an option to take off the stamina/health bars to give it that realism.
Well right now I think they totally ruined it. FNR 3 looked better, as someone else said, 4 looks a little cartoony.. and right now I'm hating the punch mechanics. It's quicker I guess, but it seems just so much easier to land a bunch of shots and combos, and you're just slugging your opponent and hitting him CONSTANTLY but not doing any damage. It seemed in 3 I was able to evade/block more and land hits when I wanted to, now I feel like I have to mash my control stick.
I dont know man ive been playin this for a while...I just dont agree with the parry system in 3...But why block with right thumb stick and use it swing back...It does feel all about swinging now...Anyone can help recommend some tips..Again..I'm going to continue to try to adapt to the new way of playing...THANKS

lol i was the one who said it s cartoony!!! ;)
First impressions for me is the gameplay seems more fluid and organic than FNR3. I agree with the comment about more cartoony graphics, FNR3 player models seems to look a little more real life. With FNR 3 I was use to config 6 for controls, so using the the total punch system (Or whatever it's called) came as a bit of a shock, but the tutorial gives you a nice introduction on how things shape up control wise.
Having played this now I can compare it to UFC 2009 and based on the demos alone it is very tight between the two. I am just going to wait and see the reviews of FNR4 and only then will I truly be able to compare the two games, and go for one or the other.
I agree about the controls, I played FNR3 for over a year on config 6 for the controls and pretty much completed the career mode. When I played the demo of FNR4 last night I was initially miffed that there were only 4 maps for the controls and it did not include the old config 6. However having got a bit more to grips with the default controls I find the gameplay to be more fluid and responds quicker than before.
