It's 3 discs.. the problem isn't swapping it's if 1 disc gets scratched you have to buy an entire new game and the way they package the discs is horrible.

This is what I'm worried about...

The chances of damaging the game has just been tripled, thearetically, a careful gamer will be fine but its still worrisome to me. You never know.

Lost Odyssey had 4 discs and they had 3 stacked on the peg and 1 in a paper sleeve where the manual goes. I know multiple people that had a disc get wrecked so they hadt o go buy another copy of the game. Also now days the game cases have those pegs that hold the game really tightly so they crack if you take them out enough or are not careful. I just hope they package FFXIII better.

the best thing to do is get a couple of dvd cases or something and put them in there you never know they might have actually put something in there instead of stacking because dang your disc would get scratched takin them out now i see why it sounds so gay...oh well been waiting for this one for a very long time and nothing anyone can say will stop me 8 days and its in my xbox lol

I have noticed that Xbox 360 game cases do contribute to a lot of cracked discs, something I have never encountered last gen at all.

I am not really a huge fan of multi-disc games, I was hoping for them to somehow fit it on one or even two if they had to.

I'm not worried about this either. I loved FF 7 and 8 and they both had multiple disks, as well as ME2. And as far as them getting damaged, I cant count the number of games I've owned on disk from way back in PS1 days and I've never had 1 get scratched to where I couldnt play it. I guess I take pride in my things and dont treat them like crap. I figgure if I'm paying for it I'm going to take care of it. And really, how scratched can a game get going from the case to your console and back?

its not hard to keep care of disks just put them in the case immediately after you eject it, really not a problem at all just something to get picky about

I do take care of my discs, but with the ME2 collectors edition case it felt like I was needing to bend the 1st disk way too much to get it out. I eventually put it in its own cd case so I wouldn't have to mess with bending it so much. That so far has been the first case to truly resist me trying to remove the disc from it.

Multiple disks doesn't bother me. A total of 5 minutes switching disks out of a 60 hour game is nothing. And i've never had a problem with scratched disks.

Im sorry but Microsoft shouldnt have cheaped out on the optical drive in the xbox 360. HD DVD could have been built in and since its death, exclusive for just Xbox games, atleast we wouldnt have to revert to 1998 and swap out multiple discs while playing games. I just never thought disc swapping would come back...

who knows what kind of hoops they would have had to go through to obtain HD-DVD and how much it would cost to keep a useless format alive.

I had an '05 PC game that came on 4 discs and the total install time would easily be greater than switching a disc in the 360 a hundred times over.

not a big deal, yet.

What the hell? 3 DISCS?!

There's no way I'm buying it now,

I'm way too fat and lazy to have to swap discs all of two times during a lengthy RPG. I'm winded just thinking about it...

Now I can understand this..all the other complaints though have been about lazy people not feeling like changing the disc. But what you say is very legitimate (and the only legitimate reason not to like the 3 disc thing).

NO. 4 discs aren't better..just more of a chance to scratch/damage the game. WAIT A MINUTE ! what if you just have to install all 3 discs just once and after that you can continue playing with only ONE disc, that would be a good idea.

That's a good idea and a possibility. But the problem with that idea is that 4 friends could chip in for the game, take turns installing it, then all just take a disk.

It's three disc and only a desperate Sony fanboy would say getting up to swap discs ruins a game. Final Fantasy VII was on three discs and FInal Fantasy VIII and IX were on four. I don't remember people complaining about that.

Less than Lost Odyssey? Epic Fail :Pmagicalclick
The main reason Lost Odyssey was on four discs was because it had like five different voice tracks. English, Japanese, German, French and Spanish if I remember right.

You're probably going to get the amount of gameplay on 1 disc then you would get with another game. So basically just think of it as you finished the first game and immediately starting the sequel. Maybe that will ease some of your pain?

Are you guys really complaining because omg a disc might be ruined? Are we just looking for things to hate on? Remember way back when FF wasn't coming to the 360? and how happy everyone was when it was announced? Now it's suddenly not good enough for you guys because it's 3 discs. Man devs can't win with you guys. Why should they give people what they want when all they see is hate because some entitled gamers can't be bothered to make some adjustments.

No that wont work, because odds are you'll need disc 1 inserted at all times. Not the remaining disc once installed.

I have no problem with disc swapping, I've been doing this since the Sega CD era :P , Night Trap was on 2 discs.

I actually wish Square-Enix made FFXIII with a minium of 4 discs. That way they wouldn't have had to sacrifice resolution and CG bit rate on the 360 version. Technically they could have made the game identicical to the PS3 version, but I'm not surprised that a company SONY once financially backed catered more so to the PS3 version.

NO DUH, of course people was all fine about it on 4 disc. Because it was on a playstation disc! which holds less memory. And also each 4 disc has its own cd holder. top, middle, middle, bottom the 360 is stack in 1 case. once you open the case 1 cd will fall out

CD's are less susceptible to scratches than DVD's. Dual layer DVD's have over 7 gigs of data in the same physical space, meaning any tiny scratch can potentially ruin more data.

There were three discs with Star Ocean:TLH and it was pretty much a non-issue. Installing the discs makes loading faster but you still have to switch out discs as a "proof-like thing" showing that you have a legal complete copy of each disc.

Once you get into the game you'll never notice the switching.

People need to stop whining about this. its a non issue. Get off your butts and swap the darn disc. If you are seriously THIS LAZY. get a freaking life. You swap the dvd's in your 360's multiple times a day on most days but when it comes time to do it because you "HAVE" to you complain. Find something actually meaningful to complain about

Good example is: Why isn't it on 4 DVD's to have the High Res CG? I would have NO PROBLEM with that.

Or How about. Microsoft finally got Square to go Multiplatform!!! for a Real Final Fantasy Game. Its just more Proof that Sony is in more trouble than people want to admit to themselves. For so many people Sony and JRPG's are the sole reason why people even bought the PS3. Now all of a sudden we on 360 got Lost Odyssey which IMO from a Writing standpoint is easily the best JRPG made sinse the SNES era. and now Final Fantasy on Xbox. Were finally drawing in the North American Gamers who are obsessed with Japanese Style Games.

Microsoft right now is in a Win Win Situation and all Sony can do is Watch it happen. What can they counter with? White Knight Chronicles!? LOL
