The last few FF games have had crazy stories. FF VII was so convoluted I couldn't understand it after 3 playthroughs. I recently finished Tales of Vesperia and still am lost on a few key points. How is FF XIII's story relative to these games? Is it easy to follow or impossible to understand? Thanks.

I thought FFXIII was very easy to follow, don't worry about that. Just don't skip cinematics and toggle subtitles on... always helps for me.

Its a melodrama, with a lot of useless and annoying characters characters, its better if you skip all the cutscenes. And dont bother

reading the datalog, a lot of useless stuff in there too. The story could have been better if it had a better script and dialogue, overall

the story was a 4/10.

While I haven't gotten "far" into the game, I'm finding it confusing. They really don't explain terminology well and the characters don't add anything special to it, if not making it a chore to follow.

I just finished the game 2 days ago, and I thought the story was pretty easy to follow. It got a little confusing toward the end with all the l'cie, fal'cie, c'ieth, bla bla bla, but overall it madesense, there was nothing so crazy as the existentialism of FF7. If anything I'd have to agree with the others who said it was kind of boring. It had cool moments, but overall it reminded me a lot of FFX with this quest to end a cycle that was supposedly unstoppable.

The story of FFXIII is simple: the fal'Cie create the l'Cie, which turn into Cie'th unless they hit the final boss with swords until it stops moving See how simple it is?

Very succinct, lol.

The true test will be seeing if you can reach the Boss at the end and thrash him with your pointy sticks, before you nod into a coma.

Or eating several xbox controllers when repeatedly losing to the last guy

FFX had a GREAT story I also didn't think FFVII was that hard to understand FFXII confused me for the first 4-5 chapters but after they start explaining different terms, you'll get it

"The last few FF's" then throws in FFVII. Meanwhile... 13 years later... FFXIII is easy to understand. Kind of stale up until chapter 9. Solid, but certainly not the best JRPG story out there.

I think the only reason i liked the story is because i thought lightning was the hottest FF character ever, with the graphics and all...I love that game.

Final Fantasy XIII has such a terrible story that even most people who like jrpgs don't like it.

The problem with the FFXIII story isn't the complexity its the sheer boredom that's the problem. I didn't give a damn what was happening in it.
