I finally got my gamerscore to 10,000! I can finally play games for fun now. Before I got my gamerscore to 10,000 I was a hardcore gamer and just played games for achievements but now since I reached my goal I can finally just relax and just play games for what there meant for. For fun. Has anyone else had the same thing happen?

Congrats, but seriously you shouldn't be playing games just for achievements.

Congratulations. I care about achievments a bit - but I will never play a game JUST for achievments. If I can see a couple of easy points here and there I go back and get them - but not the hardcore ones.

Gaming should be fun, not a chore to collect points.

I said JUST For achievements.. like the guy said. I play the game to have fun, of course I'd love to get the achievements, but its not why I buy games.

Well there are some games that I enjoyed and just liked to play it for what it was. such as Gears of War. But I think that was the only game. But now I can finally go and play splinter cell double agent again just for fun :). I basically played the game for the achievements and never actually took my time and had fun with it like all the other splinter cells. Maybe thats why I didn't really enjoy this new Splinter Cell.

Nah, the reason is to brag to your friends, there was a recent program where you could get a few prizes if you raised your gamerscore 1500 points or something, but other than that, nope.

Achievements are just there so people can see what you have done in a game, so they are sort of like bragging rights.

Umm no, can't say it has.

My only goal is to play the games. As I really do not care about the achievements like most everyone else seems too, and I for one always play for fun which is what games are meant for. Atleast I thought they were, but that was before I got an Xbox360 as most everyone else thinks that the achievements is all there is to games. I have been a gamer since Pong in the mid-to-late 1970's and I am a PC gamer and have played and still own like every other gaming console made except for the Pong(which I had when I was younger) and the original Xbox and the PS3 and the WII, and it was always about the games and not these achievements. Also I do not think playing just to get the achievements makes someone a hardcore gamer, but maybe it does in the world of Xbox(?).

And yes I know that because I am older and have all of these gaming systems and having a nice gaming PC that I had built and upgrade atleast every other year, that none of this makes me a better gamer or a better person then anyone else. So what I am saying is that I know I am not a better gamer or a better person then anyone else as I am only saying this before someone else does.

But hey to each their own, I guess.

I'm at less then 5000 and I own almost 20, and more then 20 360 games if you count XLA games.  I think people that play crappy games for points are a bit off, but I got to say I'mstill trying to get all the points out of Test Drive UNlimited, I love that game and I think achievement points are a great incentive to keep people playing games they have had for a while, I mean if they weren't why would SOny be copying them almost half a year after the realease of the PS3 haha, peace.  360 for life, or atleast life of the 360.

Gaming should always be fun not a duty! But 360 achievments are great way to beat the game every possible way :) You can tell your friends that You have beated particular achivement or You have gamescore over 10 000(My is 5750) and they try to beat you :) This is very good way to be competitive with sidedish of fun :)

I just play the game and if I get an achievement I pat myself on the back but I don't try and get every achievement that is in the game.

I play games for both achievements that I know I can get with relative ease and for just fun. I find myself constantly setting new gamerscore goals though. lol. I reached 10000 a while back and now have a new goal of 15000.  Hope to have it soon. lol.

Achievement points are cool but it seems to ruin a lot of MP games. People would rather go for achievements then doing what benefits their team (such as putting the sniper rifle down when you're 1 feet away from someone in Gears). I personally have never gone out of my way to play a game I don't enjoy just for achievements.
