I think now they just judge it on if its going to be a hit or not. Viva Pinata and Fuzion Frenzy were $50, and Gears, Crackdown, and Halo 3 will be $60. My guess is that its all based ont he hype.

actually, Crackdown and Gears are just exclusive, not 1st party- they just publish it, not first party. Halo 3 doesnt have an official price

When it comes to game pricing. They are going to charge as much as they can get away with, but that's true for any product, not just games. The only caveat in regards to games was the NFL 2k series when it sold for $20. The pricing model gained them a ton of Madden converts, but it cost them the NFL licensing. So... low prices aren't always 'good', and high prices aren't necessarily a 'bad' thing.

Your thinking of nintendo. They are the only company that stated that there first party games will be $50. Sony and Microsoft never stated that.

No, Microsoft made games are 50$ on launch days, all others are not. Halo 3 will likely be 50$ because its microsoft. Thats why PG3 was 50$, and PDZ, they were both made by microsoft mainly. Halo 3 might be 60 because its Bungie, not Microsoft

You said 2 different things in there, first you say Halo 3 will likely be $50 b/c it is Microsoft, then you say it might be $60 because it is not Microsoft, make up your mind!
