I just need to know... what is the big difference between arcade and elite? And I'm definitetly not getting the 250gb elite. It's just redundant. I have about $140 from selling things on eBay andI need to know how much that extra $100 would change my gaming experience.

So I understand we're all REALLY AGAINST anyone who fails to use Jasonguy's game recomendation thread, but... I really want to hear others input, and despite the fact that I'm sure out-of-place threads deserve to be smitten with the wrath of the introverted nerd gods, I thought Dblmh's post as a whole had some merit. SO. Could we please try this again with constructive input? I can't stand unanswered questions.

Sigh... Because I'm very drunk right now...

The Arcade and the Elite only have on difference, a harddrive. The Arcade and Elite both have the same internal pieces, run equally as smoothly, same graphics card, mother board, ram, etc... Only difference is the Harddrive.

Edit: Again, I'm drunk and I'm sorry. You need a harddrive for save files, DLC, installing games to the harddrive, etc... You need a harddrive anyway and they cost $100 by themselves (If you buy them in stores. They only come in 60 GBs so far) so why not buy them with the system and get double the memory?

Ew, wired controller!!! Uhm, no, that is not all I got out of those answers;

Doesn't the elite come in several sizes? I think that was his $100 difference thing; a 120 vs 250gb drive?

And as for models, does anyone know about perceptable difference in loading, red-ring, etc? Are the arcades all Jaspers or anything awesome like that? I mean, I'm assuming no, but I was hoping for firsthand experiance.

150GB is not redudant, saying that is ridiculous. Though you must s/he must have meant 160. Anyway, I just very recently purchased a 360 Elite and there was no way I was settling for a 60GB Pro. My PS3 had 40GB and that didn't leave room for to many games, so 60 wouldve seen the same problem. Getting an Arcade is by no means an intelligent decision.

I'm not sure how much space the XBox360 OS takes up, but for me it really wouldn't be a HUGE issue to only have 60gb. I only play one game at a time, and once I'm done with it I purge it from the drive and start on the next one(that might come from renting and being a poor college student, now that I htink about it).

As for the rest of your post – I'm not sure about the original posters feelings; I am however PRETTY sure that the original "$100" statement was a differentiation between the 120bg Elite and the 256mb Arcade. And I should mention(as the orignial prematurely locked post mentioned yet I FAILED to bring up as of yet) the hypothertical "you" in this debate isn't interested in getting Live anytime soon. Maybe I'm missing some MAJOR advantage to storing games on the hard-drive, but all I know of is overheating prevantion and stopping that BLASTED disc-spinning sound.

Installing games on the hard drive isn't important. It's nice if you have a lot of space, but not necessary. I wouldn't worry about it overheating assuming you put it somewhere that is reasonably ventilated. Don't shove it in an already crowded entertainment shelf. Also, I think all versions have wireless controllers, now. (responding to someone who said the arcade's was wired.
