IMO the Xbox 360 is the best console on the market. New versions don't get the RROD that often, the problems with the console are mainly in the earlier versions. If you buy one today, you should be fine.

Also, it will be several years before we see the next generation of consoles.

Well, lets put it this way... The console was released in November 2005, I bought mine in June 2006 and I haven't had ANY problems what-so-ever. Newer versions have had several system/technical updates since my version was made. So yes, I'd say the ones on the market now are definitely stable.

The newer models don't have a lot of problems with the RRoD now and MS does have a 3 year warranty against it. So if you do get it you just send it in and you have a fixed 360 coming back to you.

Also with Xbox Live you do have to pay, you can get 3 or 12 months cards. Some of the 12 month cards you get an extra free month with it. They usually cost around 40 dollars some places so that's about 3 dollars PER MONTH, that really isn't that much for how much you'll have.

They all come with a free month of Xbox Live ( I do think the arcade does, someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Also on what console to get they have an arcade version which comes with no hard drive ( you will need one if your gonna go online). Price is $199

The 60GB pro model which comes with 2 free games right now (kung fu panda and indiana jones), a headset also. Price is $299

Or the elite that comes with a 120 hard drive and an HDMI cable. Price $399

I believe that you should get the xbox 360 elite. I only had a RROD once and it was from a launch which was 2005 and it did not happen till late 2007. And when you always read the .vs. forums there is always people talking about it like it happens all of the time. Which is untrue. Out of all of my friends who got a 360, im the only one who had it. Plus i own all of the systems but im always on the 360 more then any other because all of my friends own them and not the other systems because they say its just a waste of money. Which im thinking they were right about its a waste of money. Which has a giant libary of really awesome games like Left 4 dead and GOW2.

Plus xboxlive is very cheap if you look at it. I live in canada and it costs $60 for a year. But if you look at WoW its 15 dollars a month which is $180 a year. That makes it 3 times more then the xboxlive. Also that your first month of xboxlive is free.

The HDD is not inside the console but on top, it's just like a huge memory card you just clip it on top. They also have a 120 HDD you can buy if you need bigger space. It doesn't have WIFI, you can get a  Wireless Network Adapter but that is only to get on Xbox Live without hooking up the ethernet cord from your computer.

If you are only interested in getting a 360 for the RPGs then there is no need to get live, but for any thing else live is a must.

I know that the hdd can come out but i think its kinda of a waste because it costs $200 which is half of the cost for a premuim 360. Thats how I look at it.

The new 60gb HDD bundle (has a 3 month Live subscription and a brand new headset) is only $99.99, so you could get an Arcade system for $199.99 and get the HDD later if you wanted, or just get the Pro bundle, which comes with a 60gb HDD for $299.99 maybe even less somewhere online, now is probably the best time to get a 360, especially if you're into RPG's, you could go out and get Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon for cheap, and once you're through all of those The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery will be cheap, AND FFXIII will be coming out, God it would rock to be you.

I bought the Xbox360Arcade and a120HDD + aftercooler (you can play all day also in summer) + WIFI internet I think this is the best combo. Referrin RPGS you will need internet for FABLE III, and FINAL FANTASY.

Def buy a 360, especially if all your friends have it. like 45 of my friends have a 360 and like 3 have PS3 and it's way more fun to have when u can play w/ your friends. just start off w/ a simple Pro package and you will be on your way to calling your PS3 a Blu-Ray instead.

I am on my 4th xbox 360 system. Yes. FOURTH.

1st: RRoD

2nd: RRoD

3rd: Some crap with the graphics engine/whatever completely busted the system.

I got fed up with everything and dropped the money for an Elite system. I have heard that elites do not have the same issues, and so far so good.

If anything, my posted expirience should tell you that I am either 1. a complete tool to M$ or 2. enjoy the 360 so much that I am actually putting up with this utter bull$.

And I DO also own a PS3 and Wii. I just seriously love 360.

I own a 360 and it is a great console. If you buy it make sure you get the pro(one with the hard drive). The games are great and the 360 has a wider variety of games. The PS3 is Mainly about fighting and shooting. If you want a good RPG playing console get the 360. The reason I say get the pro is so you can get on xbox live becuase that is were the real fun starts.

Even if you happen to get RRoD Microsoft provides you with 3 years warranty against RRoD and 1 Year on everything else and dealing with Microsoft is a breeze. From my only RRoD experience took me a week to get my console back and it's been working fine ever since.

And if your realy scared you can get the extended warranty but i dont realy think it's necessary.

And as for the experience it self... well.... it rocks. Buy with confidence.
