I assume you have the microsoft VGA cable

their should be a connector that can convert the red/white to a stereo jack packaged with it... look inside the packaging..

How much do these cost and what's the highest resolution that can be reached through VGA?

Microsoft VGA cables would put you around US40 (stereo jack converter included)...

The stereo jack converter is only around US2....

My 360 runs at 1280 X 1024 on my LCD, but the 360 can go higher...

Check the xbox VGA help site on xbox.com and check the specs of the LCD first...

You want to get the resolution highest as possible, while still maintaining 60Hz refresh rate if possible.

I'll go to Gamestop and see if they have some used VGA cables. I play my 360 on a projector and it's capable of HD resolutions. The games look good on it but it's through composite so I know it's not doing them justice.

What sound system do you have?

Does your LCD have built in speakers?

I use a 2rca-male to 3,5mm stereofemale converter (costs 2$ or so) & plugged in a pair of headphones (that have their own volume switch/wheel). For speakers any that have 3,5mm input would work.

Yeah, jelloblimp is right... with that you can either connect headphones (which probably mean xbox live headphones might be a problem)... so you can use cheap computer speakers for like US20...
