well u wanna make sure its ventilated, i always have the a/c on whenever i play. And the best way to that is by lifting it off the ground, like i put a carboard square underneath just to get the heat away from all ova the place. To answer ur question, go with horizontal, just one the two main ventillation points (the silver ones on the side, when its vertical) are covered when its vertical.
and standing it up so ur animals dont step on it, what happens if they knock it ova?Â
just wandering so my 360 will last as long as it canlazzordudeit doesn't matter, i had min on vertical and then when i read all this stuff on line on how you supposed to take care of your 360 and this being one of them i did it all and it still broke about two weeks ago!!!

Mine's vertical, been that way since I got it.

Horiz of course! It just doesn't seem natural for the disc to spin that fast against gravity. It also has a lot to do with wear and tear. My bro and I both have launch 360's, but he had that thing running games almost 24/7 and had to have it taken in. It was last month, and I'm surprised it lasted that long. His problem was very unique though.
The disc drive made some horrendous noise when Gears was starting up. We quickly ejected the disc, which was perfectly fine, but the disc tray never closed after that. Not even with the power off, so that to me was wear and tear at it's finest.
My launch day box is still kicking strong, but it only gets played around 15 hours per week.
i was getting sporadic disc errors with it vertical.. ( i don't know why they didn't put one of those small knobs in the middle of the tray that you can latch the games onto )
so i switched to horizontal and i rarely get errors now. i also use the intercooler fan and keep it near a window, it works great.
I keep mine vertical, though I have dropped it 2 times already from about a 3-4 foot drop. Surprised mine isn't junk yet.
I keep lots of space around it so it keeps well ventilated and keep it off of any fabrics so static doesn't conduct.
