Forza is wicked, but unless you have a passion for doing paintjobs and such, it'll probably get boring in a week or 2...can't say anything of DiRT though cause I've only played the demo

Got to disagree that Forza may get boring I don't do paint jobs (I suck big time at them) but find the game to be like an RPG for cars ... you level up your cars ... race to unlock more powerful ones .... put on upgrades and tune to make what you have bigger and better ... and online you get to race against people not just posted times like DiRT ... IMO Forza has alot of lasting appeal ... why not rent it first and if by the time you have to give it back you still want more ... then there is your answer.

Long lasting apeal + content VS FUN + nice graphics

Its not hard to chose Im returning my copy for DiRT soon.

* notice how I have used capital letters for FUN, its because some people seem to forget that its the most important aspect of a game especialy gamespot reviewers.

Well I dis-agree 100% there; 've played both and I must say I much prefer my Forza 2 compared to my mates DiRT, simply because Forza is generally better as a whole, I get fed up looking at the same old rally cars that can't be modified they end up all looking the same, also I find that Forza is more popular on-line and generally better on-line and don't get me started on multiplayer *or lack of*

Where are you getting the fact that DiRT has more content than Forza? That couldn't be more wrong.

Both games are very solid choices, but I decided to pass on both and just pick up Nascar 2008 next month instead.

i completely dis-agree that Forza 2 is more "FUN." You expect someone to get into the game when a car is going at a sluggish rate? For people who are looking to start out the game in a bang, they will be really disappointed. Anyone simply knows that it's a simulation driver so you can't expect to be doing turns at 200mph compared to the arcade racers. I ended up buying this game mainly for designing paint jobs...and that's pretty much it so far. Repetitive tracks, or lack of tracks to put it in a better term don't help either when you have to race them for 10 laps or more.

Now DIRT on the other hand might not have custome cars or photo-mode but it surpasses F2 in the "fun" factor easily. This is mainly because I for one like arcade racers and two it's the easiest game to pick-up-and-play.

(FORZA 2) Long lasting apeal + content VS (DiRT) FUN + nice graphics

If you could read it would be so helpfull to your arguement, and yeah I know the original post didnt have the title names next to them but it doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure which belongs to which game.

Screw both and by some stock, open up your own business, start a pyramid scheme, wherever good times role, Bennigan's.

That was weird wasn't it? Depends on how realistic you want your racing to be. For a few Forza's realism can either enhance or kill a game for them. Dirt, eh, can't go wrong with Dirt, it has been around since the beginning of time after all.

I stand corrected, but IMO I still stand by the fact that Forza is the better racer IMO. It's a simulation of course it's going to be slower than DiRT it doesn't make it any less enjoyable, if I want speed I turn to Burnout.

Honestly, it's really this simple:

If you find that you enjoy arcade racers more than simulations, go with DiRT. If you like simulations more, go with Forza. It isn't rocket science. If you don't like hardcore racing simulations at all, believe me, you will not enjoy Forza. And if you don't like arcade racers like Burnout, getting DiRT may not be the greatest idea (though DiRT is a lot less arcade-like than Burnout, which gives it a neatbalance between arcade and sim).

Racing is far and away one of my favorite genres, so I have both. If you're not so into racing you simply need to think about which type of racing is more fun to you. I think Forza will be boring after a while if you aren't into collecting the cars, upgrading the cars, and if you're like me, turning off ALL of the assists and trying to still win. I love all of this and love driving road courses, so this game is a no brainer. DiRT is all about crazy drifting, low traction, look-out-for-that-tree sort of racing, and I love that too. Take your pick, they are both great games.

Or, alternatively, if you just need someone to tell you what to do: get Forza 2.
