To be honest, I'm not sure if this poll has been done on these forums before. If it has; sorry ahead of time.

For those of you who aren't familiar with both of these games, I will just summarize what they entail. Forza 2 is a car racing simulation, where it pits you with a wide variety of cars, and pits you against the cpu and/or online players on tracks around the world. It is pretty much Gran Turismo for the 360. DiRT however focuses purely on offroad racing and RALLY racing. It is the sequel to the Colin McRae series.

Which one of these two are you picking up, and why? Please add some substance to the post to make this an interesting discussion. Also, don't hesitate to shoot down my summarizes of these two games as you see fit.

For me, I will probably end up getting both, but I am the most excited about DiRT since I am a huge rally fan.

i picked up forza based on how much of a good time i had with the first one and the demo was good. the Dirt demo really sold me to not buying the game, not my forte as i flipped and wrecked every car i drove (and dune buggy)

Well first of all you should make this poll in a couple of weeks when dirts out, but from what I've seen of dirt which is only info here on Gamespot...I'm favouring dirt. I like games that offer something interesting and different (at least for me), just like how I like my music. For instance Gears because because I'd never actually played a 3rd person shooter before and its cover system, I like the look of BIA because the squad tactics look interesting (I'm not sure if vegas is similiar, havn't played it) etc. And it just seems like forza is the typical mid-life-crisis-mobiles-on-the-nurbergring type of game where its like woot I'm in a ferrari. But I'd rather be in a dune buggy than a ferrari, just personally. Also like the look of the pyramid system. One major point in me prefering dirt, however, is that I'm not actually any good at racers, despite the fact I really enjoy playing them...so the fact you can't have player racing actual players online for dirt, so that drawback really doesn't apply to me.

DiRT for me, simply because it's fun to play.  I never really have any actual fun in Forza, and while I'm not sayin it's bad at all, I just don't have fun playing it.  I really enjoyed the demo of DiRT, and I can't wait for it to come out.

i agree, forza is unquestionably a good, fine-looking game but "enthusiast" games like that get tedious really fast for me, i'm already getting tired of it - dirt is just plain, unpretentious good fun - i've spent almost as much time playing the 3-track demo as i have playing forza2.

I was stuck between the 2 until I found out that Dirt doesn't have any online multiplayer whatsoever (with the exception of leaderboards) which is pretty much unacceptable nowadays.

It has online mutliplayer, but you can't see the cars you're racing against. You race against time instead.

Yah, but thats how rally racing is in real life. Rally tracks are made to support one car at a time, not multiple cars.

judging by DIRTs demo graphicly it was stunnin but the handling was way off sure its a rally game you slide but its just totally unrealistic feeling and jerky the brakes u press full and u stop dead u press lightly and they dont slow you down at all, if the handling and brakes are tweaked itll be good and ill get it but i prefer forza 2 over it any day. and yes as above online multiplayer is you on the track racing against the clock which isnt a bad thing just different.

Forza for sure, i don't know why DIRT is such a big hti with a lot of people. I never really liked any of the Colin Mcrae rally games and this one didn't do anything for me. I'll be passing on this game.

different games, dirt is more arcade than simulator. i prefer the damage factor on dirt though wheels n all that **** actually fly off the car unlike forza where u can only mince your car up so much, then again theres a bit of a difference ... driving on a manmade enviromented track or doing 120mph round a cliffside eh

racing games? never really did it for me except 2 games, flatout, and stuntman ( i know it's not a racing game but it has cars right?) the forza demo was booooooring in my eyes, yeah yeah yeah good graphics and physics, but that's just not fun, then i played the dirt demo, and i played the first track the asphalt one , and again i was liek booooring, but then the next two races got me, buggy was really fun and the mountain side track was really exiting, to race against your own time and practically be on the verge of falling down, that really did it for me, then i found out there'd be pick up truck races and truck races and so fourth so now i'm really exited, but i'm not sure i'll buy it since in my eyes (and i know it's wrong) racing games aren't worth that much, and with the darkness, overlord, and tenchu Z (though i'm not sure this will be that great) coming out, and skate later this year, not to mention GTA IV and assasin's creed this is going to be a bit down on my "to buy" list

Since DiRT isn't out yet, I'll take this as a "Should I buy Forza 2?" poll. You should... it's the best racing sim I've ever played, and probably the most fun I've had in a game strictly about cars since "Stunts", a.k.a. "4-D Racing" on PC back in the Stone Age. The demo did not do this thing justice. The graphics are kinda up and down... the car models look great but the environments range from bad to passable. But if you're looking for gameplay, it's the best there is.
