It deserves it, you know how much money it is to make a simulator with 300+ Licensed cars? More than Gears Of War, the car manufacturers are greedy, turn 10 is not going to profit on this game, Microsoft has to give them incentives.
I don't believe that there was ever an official price released. The prices you've seen are just what the stores are predicting the price to be, kind of like the release dates before their officially announced.

While yes that is what Microsoft said they proved that to be wrong. I mean they priced Halo 3 and $60 (and you may say bungie makes it). Microsoft technically makes absolutly no games themselves, they buy companies that make games for them. So when they said that they meant any game that is developed by a company they own will be $50 (which has been true with Rare's games).
wow then whole bucks...not that big of a deal considering every other new game out their is 60 bucks.and honestly with the way its shaping up to it is probably worth a lot more
Which is why i'm so glad i've got a Japanese 360, i get all my games for $40 when i pre-order at play asia (link in sig) not getting forza, unless that demo coming soon blows me away... but i did just preorder Mass effect.
I'd pay 80 for this game, i can't wait until it comes out. If your complaining over 10 bucks which is what 360 games run then you don't really want it that much.
People are complaining because microsoft stated that any game published by Microsoft Games Studio would be 49.99 instead of the usual "next-gen" 59.99. When you look for prices for games like ME and until recently Forza 2 it would show 49.99, but it has been proved that it was all lies, and that "next-gen" games will indeed cost us 59.99; even if they are Published by Microsoft.
this doesn't suprise me, when gears came out and it was $60 and it's a microsoft game. i already told myself that all upcoming microsoft games will be $60

First party games where suposed to be 50 bucks. All the big MGS games like , Gears, Crackdown, Forza all are at 60, while other lesser titles like Viva Pinata, Kameo, PGR3 are 50.
Who in the hell thought this game was goingto be 50 dollars, did any of you watch the trailers and saw all the cool ways you can hook up your car and sell them online if you want.
Microsoft must have disliked the $50 price tag and because they want more money they raised it to 60. That's just my guess though, I don't know if I'm right or wrong. But anyways 360 games are typically $60 (sadly) so it doesn't really bother me much. Besides, if you want to get your games for cheaper, use ebay to get your games from now on.

I paid $59.99 for PGR3 and Kameo and $69.99 for PDZ CE, when I first bought my 360. VP is the only first party game I've seen so far with a $49.99 release price

 Seriously, so what that it went from $50-60...$10 isn't that big of a deal, considering that pretty much all next gen games are $60. It wasn't a price raise...it just got pushed to normal pricing, get over it. Oh and don't use so many "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" when it doesn't even warrant a "!"
