I've never been a fan of simulation racing games. I've played Grand Turismo 4, Forza 1 & 2, and none did anything for me. Upon further reflection though, something dawned on me. I've seen people play Guitar Hero with a regular controller before... sure rhythm games have been around a long time with just a controller, but Guitar Hero is WAAAAY more fun to play with the guitar controller, so wouldn't a driving sim with a control system that was more true to life be the same way?

Do any of you play Forza / GT with a racing wheel? How much does it enhance the experience, and which types would you recomend?

Thanks.

I would say its entirely down to personal preferance since the gme was designed with both controller and steering wheel in mind, unlike guitar hero which was designed with just the guitar control in mind. But I personally prefer the wheel.

As for which one the official 360 microsoft one is the one I'm using at the moment. Its good though if you want to pay more I think their are more "realistic" wheels out there but I think microsofts is best.

I was done with Forza 2 at about level 22, then I got the wheel, and went up to level 50 and KEPT playing. for me, the difference is night and day, and I refuse to play Forza without my wheel.

It's a lot better. You can't imagine how much better it is until you actually use it.

Yeah I'd love to try one out, but I don't know anyone that has one, nor do any of the Gamestops or Bestbuys have a demo model. Any recomendations besides the "official" one? I don't care whether or not its wired or wireless.

It would need to be a damn good set of wheels and pedals.

When I want the "complete racing experience" like that, I just go to an arcade. Come to think of it, a Forza 3 arcade game would be awesome...

I've attempted to use the wheel and pedal combo before but generally the wheel is too light so you keep jerking it around and the pedals keep slipping away from you when you try to press them down.

If you can find a high-end state of the art model or something it might be worthwhile.

I think at E3 they did actually design a special arcade like "pod" for the game which simulated being in the actual car lol so you never know :p

the microsoft wheel works excelent and is very good quality at a good price. if you want a wheel with a clutch pedal or to use with ps3 and 360 go with the fanatec and
