I currently own only 2 shooters, mainly because the 360 is my first console thats not Nintendo (I haven't played metroid prime). Those 2 shooter I own are Halo 2 and Call of Duty 2 (I don't want to start playing a series until I played a few of its prequels). Well, after play Halo 2 for over and hour, I start feeling light headed. I just recently got Call of Duty 2, and I started to feel light headed after only 30 minutes of playing! Has anyone else gotten light headed or even get sick after playing an fps?

I've played well over 100 shooters, and this has never happenned to me except one: Perfect Dark Zero. I have no idea why. It was quite bizzare. I played it for about 15 minutes, and started feeling ill. I haven't gone back to the game since, though I will eventually.

I'm sorry to hear that because COD2 was so much fun. I turned the volume up on my surround sound and let the bullets fly by. But have you ever looked on the back of the game box or in the instruction manuales of the games you buy? Read the health warning and that might give you a hint on why you are getting light headed. Hope that helped.

Only happened to me on the first day I played the orange box. Was playing half life 2 and I think it was that one level with the riverboat thing, got nauseous big time and had to turn off the game. Continued playing the next day but never felt like that again, even though I was worried I would but I was fine.

Wow, that's crazy. Probably half of my games are traditional shooters and I've been playing them for years. I guess people who play them a lot are used to it. Don't play in the dark. You'll strain your eyes. And maybe some light will help keep you from getting sick. Are you one of those people who pull your head back and forth when you look up and down in a shooter?

I realized when I'm gaming and especially when I play a shooter, I don't blink my eyes as much. Seriously. I can't wear my contact lenses when I play. They dry up and my eyes get all screwed up. This is probably true of everyone, they just don't realize it. Like I said about gaming in the dark: "Eyestrain can occur when the eyes are fixed on an object for a long period of time, there is poor lighting, or there is glare," explains John Bullough, Ph.D., lighting scientist at the LRC and lead researcher on the television study. "One scenario believed to cause eyestrain is watching television in a dark room. In this case, visual discomfort is caused by the large difference in luminance between the television screen and the room's dark background." So I would assume gaming with little light in the room would be even a bit worse than just watching TV because you're more focused on the details of what's going on on the screen.

This only happened with Wolfenstein 3D for me, where after 15 minutes I'd feel to throw up/very light headed. You probably need to sit further away from the screen, have better room lighting, and even play on a lower sensitivity.

Only game that has made me do anything is Guitar Hero and till this date if I look off the screen after I complete a song, the floor or watever im looking at looks like its bubbling up and warping around for about 10 secs. I know theres alot of other people that this happens to.

Yeah same here. BAsicly a half an hour of gaming for me will get me light headed and lazy.

I feel like i can't do any phisical activities at times.

But when i played castle crashers for 3 hours with my buds, i felt so addicted, and still felt energetic at the end. Weird...

yeah, you might think im lieing but you can get motion sickness from playing an fps if your screen shakes to much maybe you can just try building up a tolerance to it, or if you spin to much, or things are just very fast paced

And here I thought this was another trolling thread bashing the FPS genre and the 360 for having too many of them but anyway yea the only FPS that made me sick was Prey and that was before all those upside down puzzles and portals. The beginning made me hate the game.

Hmmm, It might be your TV, flashing lights, or something else, but I doubt its a game genre that cuases it.

Well sorry to tell you but FPS games aren't made any differently then any other game besides the first person view. Maybe you just aren't good with fast paced action, who knows.

Its the first person view with intense fast paced action that makes me lightheaded. Well, I'm just getting used to the genre.

it varies from people to person to person. Some people I know get nauseous just by looking at a FPS, but nowdays FPS games tend to do that less. I used to feel very nauseous with old FPS games (like doom, quake...), but nowdays shooters like Halo 3, and COD4 are great, I feel nothing but excitement.

the only one i have heard a little bit about has been i think the hovercraft sequence in half life 2, something about it narrows the vision by removing too much of the peripheral

My eyes never hurt. Anyway the last time i got motion sickness was from a star wars game on the N64 but it was my own fault i was already dizzy beforehand and i was eating my lunch.

the original halo was the first fps game that i owned( unless you count the indoor segments in jurassic park on the SNES)... and it used to give me headaches. I guess i got used to them...or just adjusted my playing....try taking breaks every hour to rest your eyes, also don't forget to blink(it helps).

O yea turok forgot that one. That game is horrible really i mean man o man did I expect a good game and it came out completely the opposite. After playing it it got to the point where it was unplayable the controls felt unresponsive and a mess and the graphics style irritated me.
