dude i was playin the Bioschock demo and i dont think i have been scared like that in any videogame that i have ever played! I mean i am not usually into scary games but i tried it anyways seein if i could get past it but i think its too much for me. I know its just a game but i mean theres just some things that freak me out and i am not scared to admit that i was shakin after i got done with that game after 30 minutes. I mean did anyone else freak out playin this game?
nope i know that couldnt handle condemned so i never tried it on purpose and im not into that whole twisted nasty atmosphere and stuff like that u know. It just weirds me out.
i might sound like a pansy or w/e but i cant help it. lol this stuff just gets me nervous and scared and i guess i gotta give it to the designers for makin a really engrossing, real atmosphere. I mean i really want to play this game i just dont want to freak out everytime i pop it on and start walkin around and seein and hearing all this suspenseful crazy stuff happening all around me u know. But i am impressed with the game most definitley

I hear that you become almost godlike with all the plasmids, tonics, and Weapon upgrades. So even if you do get scared, you'll still kick the crap out of that splicer or whatever. And then feel better about it now that it's dead.
now that is true its just watching all these weird scenarios with the Big Daddies and the interactions the splicers have with one another its just so REAL looking.

A 'scary game' is infinitely more frightening to me than a 'scary movie'. Movies are passive, I am not personally involved in the events that are taking place. In a game... it's more like it's happening to me which makes it more frightening.

I can def. relate to what ur sayin. Games feel like im the one that is there and that i am having all this stuff happen to me. And making it where every second is scary i just cant handle it sometimes.lol
The most freaked out that I have ever been was when playing Condemned. I jumped out of my seat so many times that I just said enough and didn't play it again... I'm just hoping I won't freak out too much when I play Bioshock later tonight when I get back from work...
Have any of you ever played Silent Hill 2 ? I bought that few days ago its and original Xbox game tried it out and i must say thats a SCARY game! The atmosphere and sounds freak me out then when i got to the city man those monsters are freaky looking, well just plain simple scary game.
I was only a little sacred becuase I didn;t know where everything was. But it turned out that all of the "fear" I felt was just superficial and caused by the fact that it is supposed to be a scary game. As it turned out, I wasn't scared very much. I can't wait to go pick it up!

Household tools such as hammers and wrenches and pieces of wood as weapons of defense in a game is infinately more "survivalistic and horrifying" than a game with magic and super weapons. Period.
The Resident Evil series had me more scared. But the Bioshock game is certainly creepy in spots. I haven't played it enough to see if there are those "jump out of your seat moments" like RE2 had.

This game isn't scary, just atmospheric and if you really want to get scared, listen to the second poster in this topic.
But it had it's creepy moments. Especially with Alma. Every time the screens looks a little staticy, and you hear her laugh and just see something BARLEY move, you know something is gonna happen.

Condemned is another level of scary awesomeness.
Well when i said shaking it was an exhaggeration lol I mean if i start shakin then i have serious issues i just start gettin really excited and my heart beats pretty fast u know? I wonder if this game ever lets up a little bit tho? I mean am i gonna see some sunshine and unicorns anytime soon? lol jk.
Some of the parts are creepy but it wasn't that scary. I played far more scarier game then this. The only part that scared me a little was when you see the woman killed the man on your first elevator ride to Raptor. It was so dark and all I saw was 2 figures approaching me and I have no idea what was happening until that womankilled the guy.

I thought Condemned was pretty creepy. I have played the Bioshock demo and thought it was kinda cool. But the only game I ever played that actually made me jump out of my chair was Resident Evil: Code Veronica.
I wouldn't say it's scary. But it can startle you. Especially with the sound cranked up. Just like a movie, it builds up this mood like something is right around the corner. And when you least expect it, BAM, something jumps at you from the darkness.
the FEAR extraction point is insanely scary, theres more blood in that game than ive seen in any game or movie combined. you see a man levitated in mid air and have his arms and legs broken and eaten right infront of your eyes. you can see the video on youtube type in "Holiday Death"
Im actually kinda dissapointed in the game. Since the people who made System Shock 2 (the 2nd scariest game ever made) made Bioshock. But it was only scary in like 3 to 4 parts. Which you will only find if you do alot of exploring. With the surgeons in the the dentistry area, and the human statues everywhere in Fort Frolic.
lets put it this way, i played with the lights on. lol. damn music and ambiance! its just the whole package i think. its only fitting to play it at night or in the dark.
