I am going to purchase fallout 3 in a few days, due to the price drop. I rented it awhile back and remember being kinda scared to enter dark tunnels and stuff like that. It kinda creeps me out when a supermutant pops out of no where, or some zombie thing just flys at you. What could I do exactly to prevent this from happening? Are there alot of moments where you decide not to enter an area just for this reason? Thoughts and suggestions......

You can't avoid anything

In order to complete the game you need to go everywhere

What you could do, and its actually how I played the game, is make a sneak class. At first things will always know you're there but once you get your sneak all the way up you'll be the one jumping out of the darkness and scaring the super mutants.

Edit: Melee weapons don't make gunshot sounds... Just saying... Way sneakier... Much funner...

Sneak and listen carefully. Most enemies have sound cues that you can pick up before you see them. And, like the previous poster suggested, play with a teddy bear by your side. ESPECIALLY when you go to Dunwitch. Make sure you turn off all your lights and turn the sound up when you enter Dunwitch.....

Yeah I have had that problem. I usually just turn on the pip boy light and play GNR really loud. You could also try turning up the brightness level.

But i hardly use sneak. I usually just go all out on anybody I come across. gunwise.

Yeah, I had that problem with ferals, and the fact that they look hideous doesn't help. You get used to it after a while
