I'm sure this is part of a new wave of tactics to try and curb reselling on ebay and stuff.
Notice how its a code you get THUS its only good once. People will WANT to buy it new instead of used
I'm all for it. It will hopefully bring down prices of games since there will be more money going ot the people who actually make the game instead of Gamespot (ugh)
and no one has asked the obvious question...why did they not just include it on the disc? poor planning maybe?chaoscougar1
because it is only for people who buy the game new, not used. IF it was on the disc, then anyone who buys it new or used has access to the DLC.
it is a way to reward players who buy the game at the price it is meant to be bought and to show a little gratitude to us for helping them who they are today.

Why would Gamespot make any money if you dont buy new?
Thats awesome imo. I wasnt that big of a fan of gears versus mode but i loved the coop singleplayer. This map pack is great for gears fans who love the versus mode though (If they improve the versus mode ill play it longer then 3 months this time heh).
Epic is a pretty good company imo
so is this only on like the first week release? i don't plan on getting gears 2 on releas will i still be able to get this game with the maps like a week or two from release?
i kind of think it is good and bad. it means people will get good things buying new but bad if it is only on release....

Why would Gamespot make any money if you dont buy new?
Because gamestop buys games used for a low price. For example, if you would sell Battlefield: Bad Company to Gamestop, they would give you $30. Now after they buy it, they'll take the game and re-sell it for $50. They make a $20 profit, while the developers get zip, nada, zilch.

I sure its for the people who download games they will be punish with less maps than the people who bought it...

I think the reason is pretty obvious, disc space. DO you think on a single DVD9 they are going to fit the full campaign, the full online as is already, the survival mode, and all those Gears 1 maps in addition to the gears 2 maps? I don't think so.
Also its just an incentive for people to buy the game on release to boost sales rather than wait a few months for a price drop or used copy not some conspiracy against pirating. Also I'd imagine the maps will be available for everyone eventually either free for a price. Most likely free.
I really think this is a stupid decision. Allot of those maps were classics that really made Gears the game it is online today, and to only make those maps exclusive to people purchasing new copies really smacks those in the face that are trying to get by and buy their games used. This economy is crap and sadly allot of people don't have $65 to put smack dab on a new copy of a game. I'd rather them make it downloadable and charge for it, at least I know I could get in on the content eventually even if paying for it is required (which I have no issues with if that were the case). Dumb dumb, Epic...and I'm Gears biggest fan :( Lastly, it does split the amount of people that would be playing those classic maps..you may not see many people.gamer082009but they have $55 dollars to buy a game right?

Most of the time you can get it cheaper on eBay used which I've done myself with several games, sometimes a 60$game will go for 30-40$ on eBay with 5$ USPS 3day shipping. So it's not like someones going into Gamestop to pay there prorated extortion prices for a used game..which I DON'T DO.
