I just got a xbox360 premuim for christmas to go alongside my PS3 and I wasn't really thinking about getting xbox live untill I heard a rumour that xbox live was going to become free in the next month. Is it true and if it's not is it worth getting anyway?

Mates at school lol. Thought it would have been a lie. Should I get XBL anyway I just don't know if it's worth the 40 quid.

well youll get a month of free xbox live after you first buy the console and make a profile on xbox live. However, you may be able to play xbox live for free if you keep making a new profile every month youll have to have a new email address every month but my brother showed me how to do that and i didnt beliieve him at first but it gave me a "free trial of xbox live, gold" for a month even thoough i already had my xbox for 2 years

i think you can do that up to 4 times per console.

Yes it is a certain limit per console on how many free trials you can make.

ITs only $8 a Month for a great service, just buy it!

i think its cheaper than $8 bucks a months but thankfully i have a 13 months of live paid for right now so i dont have to worry about it, we just needed an extra profile on my xbox with live so we could play gears of war 2 online in split screen mode so he showed me how to get a free gold trial like that but its good to know that there a cap on how many free trials you can get on it. but anyway, to the TP it sounds like you can get 4 months of xobox live for free bud enjoy.

I would get it for sure. It's SO worth the $38 a year (off of Amazon.com) to play online with your buddies.

As long as Microsoft runs it, it will never be free. It is worth getting though as there is fun to be had among the torrent of annoying little kids who infest XBL. Patience is required. :)

what everyone else sez :) its a brilliant service and its worth paying fo, plus since you paid for it they have a contract to provide customer satisfaction so any problems that pop up with the service get resolved quickly, where as the other two console networks have no obligation

Tried it for three months and I'm not going to renew my gold membership. Not worth it in my opinion. I don't get what I'm supposed to pay for. There aren't even dedicated servers. I won't pay just to use my own bandwith which I'm already paying for anyway. Online gaming is free on all other systems in existence and PC users even use Windows Live for free.

I wouldn't say its free on all other systems.. Someone went into depth on this the other day but I personally don't care enough to look it up.

Just Rumors.. like the one about sony will start charging for online.. its just talk, not true... its ONLY true if Microsoft confirms it, like so far the next xbox is not confirmed to be called the 720.. well from what I have read

Well, the statistic is out. Out of 28 million 360's sold, 17 million of them are on Xbox Live. Apparently it's worth the money. Personally, I have no problem dishing out a once yearly payment for a quality online service.

No..never...Live will always be paid for....just get it people its never going free. you only pay 50 bucks a year and why would they stop charging if over 17 million are paying for it? Thats like WoW becoming free...which it wont...ever...
