Ok, so after solving all my problems with my new Xbox 360 Slim and the HDMI cable. I went to check what resolution i was running and it says: (1360 x 728, HDMI). I have a Full LG 1080p HDTV, and as soon as i connected the HDMI cable from the 360 to the TV, it automatically set the resolution for me.

I'd also like to add that the picture looks amazing, and all my games run crystal clear on the TV. But i've also heard though that some TV's do say 1080p, but once connected with HDMI, they have to downscale the resolution so it fits the screen better. So is my TV telling me that it's native resolution is 1360 x 728, and the Xbox 360 plays better on this resolution? Can someone please help me understand this, many thanks

erm not quite sure what youre saying BUT thats probably because ive been up 16 hours ... erm well I do know this. Most 360 games only run a native resolution of 720p but can upscale to 1080p to fit such displays and the xbox if set to auto should adjust its setting accordingly to match your tvs res. Check the model number of your tv on the net to check what its native resolution is. If its 1366x768 (or there abouts) its a 720p tv if its 1080p then the xbox just isnt upating the resolution properly and you can just update it manually. To be honest though I wouldnt be to bothered about it cause the upscale to 1080p option is only there incase the image from the xbox begins to break up on a 1080p display which only really happens on the especially large ones

Haha, fair enough bro. I'd get some sleep if i was you. But just to make this easier to understand, i setup my xbox 360 to my Full HDTV 1080p TV. But it's only coming up as 1360 x 728. This isn't really a big problem, because the picture is still amazing. But i was wondering why it does this? Its a Full HDTV but it only shows up as 1360 x 728 when i play on my Xbox 360?

Real 1080p resolution is 1980X 1080!..

Company's like LG, Samsung...etc put stickers on their products to deceive clients.

If you want to be happy and want to real image buy a SONY Bravia, It's expensive as hell, but you will never regret it, I didn't.

My cousin bought a lame 500$ Samsung with 2 HDMI...etc and yeah he thought it's 1080p, but it wasn't even 720p.

He was so dissapointed when he found out...but in the end we just play some games...

Cheers!

Hmm fair enough. But i never said i wasn't happy with my TV, because it's quite the opposite, every game i play on it looks stunning, and the picture is crystal clear. And 1360 x 728 is just over 720p and it's better. Plus every game on the Xbox 360 is 720p so it doesn't matter what so ever ;)

Oh and my TV says it's Full HD (1080p), But maybe it native resolution is 1360 x 728 and that's why my TV is displaying my xbox 360 on that setting.

no I think if the tv is full 1080p its native res is 1080. I wonder if its possible they meant it is capable of taking a 1080p signal and downscaling it to 720? thats what my samsung does

Haha yes, that's what i meant, i am sorry for making it confusing for you all. This is the answer i wanted from the start, and just wanted to make sure if that was possible. This is what my TV is doing than, i've also read this someplace else, and it was saying that some TV's accept a 1080p Signal, yet it downscales it to 720p. Anyways thank you all for all the help, back to Alan Wake for me :D

Just go into the settings and manually set the connection to 1080p

I've tried that, and the screen just flashed black, and returned to it's previous resolution. But it doesn't matter, the TV is perfectly fine, the games have never looked better. And as that guy said before, some TV's support a 1080p signal, yet scale it down to 720p. Either way nearly every game is 720p so it doesn't really matter.
