Last night I decided to check out the multiplayer for GTA.... It comes with a free XBL Gold membership so why not right? It was actually pretty damn fun. Not only the gameplay, but the community were fairly amusing and helpful for the most part. For a moment I thought, maybe due to the age limit...It would be awhile until the game was invaded by the kiddies. I decided to play some multiplayer again tonight, and everything changed. Before I reach the lobby I hear high pitch squeeling voices, people making dumb sexual remarks...ect ect (You know what I'm talking about. The reason why I didn't have a gold membership before was exactly this reason. Playing multiplayer games via XBL can be an awesome experience, but most of the time it just gives you a headache.
I know what you're going to say.... "There's a mute button". Sure, but what if I'm lucky enough to hit a server with a good community once in awhile? How would I be able to tell when to turn off mute and on again? I realize there are clans and there's the whole "friend" feature.... However I just don't play my X-Box enough to take advantage of it. Lets put it this way..... GTA 4 was the first game I've played this year on my X-Box. Last year I put down 50hrs of gameplay total, maybe a little less. No clan is going to want somebody who plays so little.
Am I just screwed? Is there a way for me to play on XBL very seldom and still have a good experience with the community?
