Funny, there are no bad CoD4 players on internet message boards.

Have you ever noticed that everybody talks about how awesome they are at CoD4 online? I can't think of too many people who say "I'm average" or "I'm not too good".

I'll come right out and say it: I'm decent. I have matches where I kick butt and I have matches where I'm at the bottom of the list. It happens. I have a 1.10 kill/death ratio and you know what, I'm OK with that. I don't hate on people better than me and I don't bash those that I am better than. I have noticed that in playing clan matches with my clan, most guys in clans are decent enough, but you still get the occasional jerk. I'll see a team deathmatch where all the players on one side are in the same clan but 1 or 2 and if that team loses, the clan guys rip on the other guys like it's their fault they lost. Get over yourselves people. If you're so awesome, why couldn't you pull your team up? I've seen one guy take over an entire match several times before.

I understand there is a certain level of trash talk and that's fun and makes the games more interesting, but why do so many people think they're such hot stuff? I know I'm usually getting more kill than deaths, so that means there are more people that aren't as good as I am than there are people who are better than me. Can't tell on the message boards though.

This board is actually pretty good, but some of the other major boards are a joke. Everybody complains about snipers, noobs, grenade launchers, juggernaut and so on. Why? This game has EXTREMELY balanced weapons and perks. You give up some things to gain an advantage on others.

Sorry for the rant, but it's all the jerks that make XBox Live such a joke sometimes. Everybody (mostly anyway) is there to have a good time, just get over yourself and remember, it's just a game. It's pretty pathetic to rip on less experienced players, being good at a game means nothing in the real world. But maybe that's the problem, it's probably all the people with absolutely no lives that feel the need to do this.

I know for me somegames ill be first place in the room, then next game ill be 2nd last.....Some games im awesome and some i suck horribly hehe.

Right, there are players that are good pretty much all the time. I'm pretty good probably 75% of the time. I've got a guy on my friends list who's KDR is like 2.5 and I've got guys that are around .70 but I enjoy playing with both. It keeps things interesting, sometimes you need to be the guy to carry your team, sometimes you need to be carried.

I like it. Only because I'm on prestige. When i started I SUCKED, now I'm pretty good, I have a .90 K/D ratio, but thats because until about lvl. 30 i would get like 6 kills and 12 deaths every game, now it's just about flipped.

Exactly (to the OP). I had the exact same sentiment in a Halo-related post a few down ("What to do? -- A n00b's lament"). Where are all the average/recreational online players and how do we survive in a world saturated by players too concerned with perfection/taking things too seriously?mqb007

I completely agree. My only problem is when people start getting upset at you for not being as good as they would like. For me it's about having fun (obviously) and communication that no matter if you are winning or losing that you can have a good time and not berate people for being better/worse.

Usually COD games have better communication and less jerks. Halo 3 I have had more people just be jerks which is why I don't play it much online. Thank goodness for the mute buttton.

BTW, I started with a K/D of ~1.5, and it grows slowly as you learn strategies and weapon tactics - so no one should feel discouraged.

i kind of like the "Trial by Fire" way they drop you right in. I liked the initial challenge although I started right as the game came out, so there were not too many high ranked people yet.

When I run into clans they always seem to be badmouthing everyone on the other team before the first match is played, than they lose and still badmouth. A little trash talking is fine, but so many take it to extremes and ruin the fun of playing online. People don't like dealing with a$$es in real life so why would they want to deal with them online.smallville206

The K/D ratio is a poor measure of how good someone is simply because it doesn't indicate how much someone is improving. Now if they recalced the K/D ratio for every 1000 kills, then it would hold more water. I was terrible when I started and didn't play often enough to gain the needed skills to dominate in the game. Therefore I created a pretty big hole for myself to dig out of as far as K/D ratio goes. Now I play more often and my game has improved two fold.

Alot of people also let there friends or family play on there account sometimes to, i know ive let numerous friends give cod4 a try and they go 3-30 there first time playing or something haha

Well you have a better Kill-Death ratio than me I think mines something like 1.03 or something close and I average about 20 kills a match thats not super awesome or anything but its decent. I have seen one person dominate in a match get something like 32 kills but has a guy on his team that has like 6 kills and 20 deaths and then another with 8 and 17 what I'm trying to say is even if your good its hard to keep up when stupid people on your team just run out and die every 5 seconds.

well nowadays (with some more experience), Im on the winning team 8 out of 10 matches and 50% out of that in top3 of my team.

Im not greatness, but not bad either. allthough Ive had some peaks of greatness and dominating in matches with 40+ kills.

my killstreak is 22 and kill/death ratio somwhere at 1.50. winn loss ratio is just above 1.0

problem with COD is that you cant see by someones rank how good he/she is. thats one of the things I dont like about the game. A high (prestige)rank is usualy someone that played the game longer than others

meh, so many people think they're great at COD4...its especially funny when them and their friends (clans) are badmouthing people....and then there are a couple of us that are strangers and manage to destroy them....only to follow by them leaving the match.

A true indication of "skill" is kill/death ratio...im alright i guess, 1.56 K/D

tbh, I don't mind admitting this. I truly stink at CoD :P Im the one person who thinks "Yeah. This life will be differant! I won't die in a sec-" and then get shot xD
