Braid takes 5 hours to play through the first time... 45 minutes after that. The art is beautiful, and the gameplay is a fresh take on an old formula. Hooray, a good game was made by an independant company. I'm sorry, all three of those games are still going to be better than braid because the gameplay will be much more involved, the art is going to be fantastic (if unoriginal) and the storylines will actually be good (except Gears 2,) not to mention they will all be much longer and have a ton more replay value. Braid was good game. I'm glad people are buying it... now move on
It's pointless to vote for a game that we haven't played. Why do people continue to make these game of 2008 polls? Most of the big games are coming Sep - Nov.
Most people already thought GTA IV had the medal before it came out. You never know - the anticipation behind Too Human was immense, and we see the ratings. You never know. I don't doubt that all of the games you listed will get an award of some kind, but perhaps not GOTY. Again, you never know.
Besides that, it's too early for a topic like this, especially considering the fact that there are upwards of 25 different titles coming out within the time period of now and the end of the year.
Howevever, if GOTY honors had to be given out at this present time, I'd want GTA IV to receive that honor. (I would say MGS 4, but I've never played the game, so I'd be judging based on ignorance. I did however love all of the previous MGS's, so I guess MGS 4 would deserve the honor too.

I thought braid was genius but game of the year? It lasts a couple of hours and with games like fable 2, GoW2, TFU and others, I would not say braid would be goty.

I don't think any of those will even be half as amazing as MGS4 is, so yeah, I don't think either one of those three has a chance at GOTY, perhaps Fallout but we have to wait and see how it turns out.
its no tthe end of the year and i don't think any of those games will get it. i kind of think gta 4 might get it. gamespot gave it a 10/10 others did the same to.
