GTAIV or Metal Gear Solid 4. Fallout 3 is another possibility. Outside of these games I don't see many other contenders. As much as I loved Fable 2 it does have too many issues to hold it back from GOTY. And Gears 2 although definitely superior and more refined than the original is still more or less business as usual so it shouldn't get GOTY though that doesn't make it any less one of the best games of '08.
I'm almost 100% positive that gamespot will choose GTA 4 as game of the year- the only other game I see winning it from Gamespot is MGS 4, but I find that highly unlikely. (I'll be pretty surprised if GOTY is not won by one of this year's perfect-10-score games from Gamespot...)
As for myself- I just simply haven't been able to play enough this year to really feel comfortable giving any real preferences for GOTY.
Personally Im not sure what is for me though. I mean, there were some great games this year, but none that grabbed me as much as 2007's greatest such as Halo 3 and Super Mario Galaxy.

well a lot of you are leaning towards GTA4 or MSG4....I think itll be betwwen Falllout3 and Gears2because well GTa 4 got 10 In April but would it get a 10 in december?????
