The games i want to win GOTY wont win. Either Tales of vesperia or Lost odyssey. It'll either go to GTA4,MGS4,or Gears 2. LBP might have a chance though.
as of right now i would say gears of war 2, i will find it very ironic if MGS4 or GTA4 dont get it considering there perfect scores on a lot of major sites. Having played and finished both i dont think either should be game of the year

no offense to u but those 2 wont win period...not that lost odyseey wasnt bad...i liked it..but it really wasnt that great either...so far i gotta go wit fable 2....great game..everything bout it is great...but resistance 2 or gears 2 havent come out yet and both those games look amazing

I know they wont win GOTY. That's why i stated the games that'll more than likely win. Those two are just my personal GOTY so far.
i mean they have to automatically put gta4 in the top 5 because they gave it a 10. Yet half of the hardcore gaming population and 80% of the casuals think the game sucked (or was atleast a disapointment)
I dont know about that. It's going to be a really tough one this year. It all depends on how good the graphics really are. Cause the grapics in CoD5 are really pretty good, and the ranking system and gameplay are the best ever made.
How can ppl be so confident that Gears 2 is going to win when it hasnt come out yet? I think its going to be a playstation game this year, either MGS4, LBP or GTA4. Gears 2 is probably the 4th most likely, with Resistnace 2 5th, although no1 can be sure until they come out. Fallout 3 has no chance- might be a good game but not GOTY.
I wish I could say Fable 2 could be in the running, but after beating it and playing through side quests, I doubt anyone's gonna even mention it. Call me crazy, but I don't see GoW2 getting the title, and I also see it being very tough to beat Fallout 3 considering it has the same gameplay premise of Oblivion, and has been shot up with steroids. Although, I haven't gotten the chance to play MGS4, so I couldn't speak of that. Fallout 3, MGS4, and GTA IV, but if Fallout 3 is as good as we all expect it to be, it'll be hard to top it. But again, that's an IF.
Supprised this hasn't been mentioned yet (Probably because it doesn't stand a chance at all). But my Game of the Year was Braid. Unfortunately the amount of people that would appreciate it's greatness is pretty few so I doubt it would get nominated.
Realistic game of the year, I would have to say Fallout 3 or Gears of War 2. I think gears of war 1 was one of the best games made this generation, but most people though thought it was didn't have the "Complete Package" to give it game of the year (AKA Story and the fact that parts of the game felt really rushed). GoW2 had alot more time to develop and if they can deliver on the promise of a truly epic story then I think it's a serious runner. Fallout 3 has 2 things going for it as well, first it is based on the Oblivion engine which gave a good running for game of the year on PC (I think Company of heroes beat it out though across the board) and second the huge fanbase of the fallout franchise will give a big boost.
Alot of people that give games a great review at first step back and think differently after a few months. GTA4 a 10? Really? A 10? It's the greatest game to ever be released in the history of gamespot.com? I call BS. It's a good game but it wasn't that good so I really don't see it getting game of the year, unless gamespot feels obliged to give either MGS4 or GTA4 game of the year considering they are the only 2 games in the history of gamespot.com to be given 10s (For the current platforms I mean).
All look like that have GOTY appeal, Best Multiplayer, Best Shooter, Best Singleplayer etc. As for actual game of the year many of the games on the list aren't even out, and the year isn't over so we'll see. :D
2008 has been an awesome year for gamers. It seems like a big name title comes out every week. To answer the question the big stand out for me was Fable 2. So I'm hoping it gets a few votes.
Fallout 3 will probably win but i personally hope that Call of Duty: World at War will win because of the stunning graphics and killer gameplay, it probably won't because people QQ about it when it's a BETA.
