I just realized I am home from college and job searchin for this summer...and now GTAIV is out and I want...no...need it, and games are now $60...does any1 else have the same problem as me. I mean don't you think games are becoming rediculous. Yes, GTAIV is truly amazing, but it is still just a game...there is no other way to put it...its a game. So why is it more than half of a hundred bucks. When I buy this (soon gotta hit up bank) i will be poor for a good 2-3 weeks or shorter depending on when i find my job...this is prolly a pointless topic to post, but I'm tired of spending so much for a game...I mean I used to get a game when I was little for my birthday. When they were like 20 bux or less. Now I just get the cash and its up to me to find the rest for it...Christmas is now pick one out of the 3-5 on my list. I mean come on make games using less cash to develop on an expensive as hell disk. Bioshock looks and plays amazing but its not $60 and it came out at $50 so y are 360 games increasing in price????

Get a job during college then like I have. Personally I don't buy that many 360 games to feel stressed over spending $60 on a single game. Usually I just wait till games go on sale or their prices are dropped.

I still have my SUper Mario Bros. 3 box, and the sticker on it reads $89.99..

From the now defunt Compucentre.

So ya, suck it up.

Games are still cheaper.. and you get so much more entertainment out of them than you do a $10 movie..

I'm actually surprised prices are so low still. Taking inflation into account, along with games costing 100X more to develop compared to 20yrs ago.... I'm pretty happy we're not being charged $250 for a game like GTAIV.

Prices are high assuming you have to buy them brand new. I just gave up PC and bought a 360 last thursday. I bought RS Vegas 2 for $60 but I got Army of Two for $55 and Perfect Dark Zero for .... $7.99... If you wait a few months after the game comes out youll end up spending only 30-40 bucks on it which is VERY good for a game imo.

Then again some games, like GTA IV, are probably worth the full $60 your going to spend.

I actually think they are pretty cheap if you consider that you are always going to have that game and it is never gonna go anywhere. You also get a lot of entertainment out of it. better than paying $10 to watch a movie for 2 hours dont you think?

$60 is cheap.

In the UK the RRP is $100, though games usually start at $80-90.

America has the cheapest prices for games. Everywhere else pays more, and often has to wait longer for it to launch in their country.

Games are worth the cost but i dont agree that the price should increse because the graphics are better. Its just advancement of technology. The same time is put in makin these games than games in the Atari and Sega 20 years back.

thats is far far far from the truth.. games now require vastly more resources (money and personnel) to make the games of today than was ever required before.

Did you just wake up from a coma or pry yourself from under a rock?

Anyway the reason why games cost $60 has been explained countless times already. If you can't afford it then either get a job or get over it.

Movie tickets from 1990 to today went from ~$4 avg to ~$8 avg, and I know the theaters around here are all over $10. Gas went from $1/gal to the mid-$3's/gal. Milk went up by ~50%. Compared to all that, games have stayed the same or gotten cheaper in the last ten years. We're pretty lucky.

You're right. Game developers just get twice (or more) as many people working on games this gen than last gen for fun. They want to have more people bringing potato salad to the company picnic.

gta4 is one of the most worth it games, that goes along with lost odyssey. other than that, games are overpriced, but it's simple: wait it out and they will get cheap. buy gta at full price because it's worth it. don't buy madden at full price because that makes them think it's ok to sell rehashes for 60 bucks.

You have no idea what you are talking about just like the TC. Did you know that only 4 people made the first MK game. Now over a hundred people work on them. That sounds like it takes the same amount of money huh.

To the TC, you don't know what you are talking about. I am only 22 and I know that games were more money when I was younger. Heck the NES was some were around $300 or more just for the console. You can get a far better console now for that price. We have it good in comparison to how it used to be.

I am also wondering were you get that Bioshock was only $50 when it first came out. I got it a week after release and it was $60.

i agree game prices are pretty high thats why i dont get as many as i used to. Now i only buy games that i know that i will get my $60 bucks worth out of or ask for games as presents. Or i just wait til the game drops in price, i got perfect dark zero for 10 and frear for 20. games like GTA, burnout, GoW ect i know ill get my moneys worth so i dont feel as bad paying those prices for those even though id love to pay less, who wouldnt?

Well i currently don't have a job so i just wait for the usual price drops. Only the greatest games are worth the $60 because i'm broke. Also i'm getting a job soon so it wont really matter just get a job and wait for price drops. Might take a while but there's plenty of good cheap games.

There are also used games. That is how I get a lot of my games. GTA4 and DMC4 are the only games I have paid full price for in a long time.

You think $60 is bad? It is different currency.

I Payed $150 for my grand theft auto Special edition. With that i i could buy 3 games over in england.

I'd hate to live where you guys claim to have had to pay $85 for Legend of Zelda and $90 for Mario 64. I remember the most expensive NES games I ever bought new were $39-$49. And I bought Mario 64 on release for $49, so I guess it sucks to be you if you have to pay $90 for your games.

But to TC, I can't believe you're expecting brand new games to be released at $20. Get a job. Problem solved.

Standard price here is $80-90 although that does include tax, its still a micktake.

how about living in Ecuador, where the average people have a monthly income of 300 to 500 bucks, but still, GTA 4 just arrive and goes for 120 bucks
