I'm thinking of starting up a new subscription to a gaming magazine because I enjoy a good piece of reading material and I enjoy video games so this seems like a good idea :P I've briefly looked over the different magazine providers and these two stood out for some pretty good reasons. Gameinformer is the largest and gets a lot of nice exclusives and also as an appealing design. OXM on the other hand is completely focused around xbox 360 news which is a major plus considering I only have a xbox 360 and a decent laptop (decent for everyday use and low-end games) so xbox news is what I really want. Any opinions or suggestions?

If you like just hearing about news for anything then get Gameinformer, but if you don't and since you really only own an Xbox 360 then get OXM. Of course I would keep in mind that Gameinformer only costs $14.99 a year and gives you a gamestop card which is nice if you shop and trade in at gamestop. OXM costs $24.99 a year but also comes with 12 discs (which are fairly pointless considering you can get access to demos and trailers via Xbox Live).

I would go with Gameinformer, but that is just me and I like reading about games even if I don't own the system. Plus, I am incredibly cheap and like not spending $24.99 a year.

EDIT: To get the 14.99 price on Gameinformer you have to sign up for the gamestop card. If not then if costs you 19.99.

Thanks a bunch for your opinion, I was leaning towards gameinformer because like you said sometimes I like reading about systems I don't own.

OXM is terrible honestly. The demo discs aren't worth it anymore and their reviews are always way higher then they need to be. GI is the way to go, although I just read it online now.

I stopped buying OXM and PSM and only buy Game Informer. I look forward to that every month, such a great read and covers are always amazing. And the reviews don't seem as bias as OXM do.

I've bought several dozens of issues of OXM and GameInformer, and I really enjoy reading GameInformer more. When there is a drought of news for Microsofts console, there's nothing really interesting to read about in some OXM issues.

GameInformer is so much better. I acually respect their reveiws and trust them. Plus they have a lot of exclusive stuff. OXM is horrid.

i like OXM better cause the cover ink doesnt rub off on your fingers after a few minutes of holding it leaving a void in the beautful art work that they do. am i right, anyone else have that problem with GI?

I personally like OXM better. Just like I prefer OPM over Game Informer. The interviews and previews are much more in depth. And as far as reviews go, every review on every site/magazine is debateable. And, you can find it cheaper than the previously quoted $24.99. My personal opinion, OXM.

I was subscribed to OXM, and i cancelled it because i'm sick of all the filler articles. I read a gaming magazine to read about games, not about where you can sell used games.

I'd go with GI, too- but that's because I do own several handhelds in addition to my 360. And also, I do have that same issue with the ink coming off on my hands- however I no longer hoard game mags- read 'em cover to cover three times and out they go, so it's no big deal.

'G.I' seems the obvious choice

Thanks a bunch everyone for your opinions, I went ahead and got a 12 year sub to Gameinformer which by now seems like the best choice.

GI is pretty much the best mag in the biz. I was subscribed to both GI and OXM at one point, only renewed my GI subscription. The mag has the best cover stories, literally every cover story involves first info on either a game the mag is announcing or a game that's only had teasers shown. I don't know how they get all these incredible cover stories, but generally OXM ends up covering the same game a month later with mostly rehashed info and a very few new facts.
