Gamertag change, is it true??

Been thinking about changing my gamertag but people have told me that if I do I will lose all my hard earned achievements and gamescore?? Please say it ain't so??

What if you are just first getting Live?  Changing an offline profile to a gold one, I'll have to change my name, will I have to pay or lose achievements?Zero-Pirate
