I did the unthinkable last week. I brought in a few games to trade-in that I hadn't touched in a long time and saw Too Human and decided "what the heck" and got it.
To my amazement, I discovered that the game isn't really as aweful as it was made out to be. I even had a friend that told me that I should, without even playing the game, immediately bring it back to Gamestop and get another game with my credit. Did it match the hype? Of course not. But I've really only found 3 glaring flaws with the game.
1) no health potions. Which makes boss fights a pain in the butt. When killing enemies through the levels it's usually fine because you get health orbs. But during the first few boss fights I've had. . .they don't drop health orbs so you're stuck helpless to heal your character.
2) ranged aiming is quirky. It works according to your distance I've found and only locks on to enemies when you pull the RT first. when you're too far away, I've found myself firing off into empty space.
3) No way to skip the death scene. This only becomes a pain when combined with number 1.
Now granted, no. 1 is a really big issue and I have no idea why it is the developers decided to go in this direction. Especially when fixing this one issue, would have taken care of two of my main complaints. But more surprising to me was that I didn't find the camera to be bad (especially when in ISO mode). The combat is actually really fun, flying around the levels going from enemy to enemy, juggling them in the air. And it has a nice Diablo feel with all the loot being dropped and armor being upgradable and customizable.
So this got me thinking, What other games that have gotten a bad name for being flops, weren't really as bad as they were made out to be.
