Wonder if there is a site or even a list someone is keeping that list the 360 games that offer the best single player experience from best to worst?

With so many games focusing on Live multiplayer I don't want to waste my money. It will and would suck to take an interest in a game only to spend $60 or close to it for a single player experience that is only a few hours long meanwhile the bulk of the game is online multiplayer. Knowing which games have a good offline mode would help things. Most reviews I read only seem to really gloss over that aspect and seem to judge the game on what the online options area. Maybe I'm reading the wrong reviews.

Seriously they should sell two versions of these games. Offline and online enabled versions with the offline being half the price since if you are just playing that you are only getting half or less then half of your money worth out of it.

Thanks.

The best single player experience I've seen is Oblivion. The add ons combined with the game will give you about 80-100 hours of gameplay. My friend, that is bang for the buck.

I'll add Bioshock and Mass Effect to those listed above. And, for bang for your buck, The Orange Box is a pretty sweet deal as well.

Call of Duty 4 has a short single player, not worth the money for that alone. A lot of games are worth it though, they vary a lot and depend on preference. For example I spent 32 hours finishing Lego star wars 2. Mass Effect and oblivion have huge single player. Bioshock took me a while and well worth the money.

I agree. Alot of times the reviews don't do the best job of explaining this aspect. I want straight forward upfront confirmation of the single player experience, and the multiplayer exerience (offline/online/co-op).

Also, I would like the reviews (or the gamespot gamerspaces) to state if a game is stand alone, or a sequel. Sometimes I just don't know if the game is a standalone game taht just shares a series name or something (with the addition of a number or subtitle), or if it is a direct sequel where it is best to play the game(s) before it.

But anyways, back to your actual post... I don't know your taste or gaming history. Personally, I would reccomend The Orange Box (Half-Life 2 & Portal), Eternal Sonata, Lost Odyssey, and BioShock. Then look forward to Fable 2, Operation Darkness, and Tales of Vesperia.

I totally understand where you are coming from NeoStar9. Some games are more favorable towards XBox live than focusing on a good single player experience. Games like COD4 and GoW are probably the most noteworthy candidates regarding this scenario. Don't get me wrong, COD4 and GoW are incredible games. But these games are mostly bought with the idea that the multiplayer over XBox Live will make up for the short campaign mode and will make the game be worth the $60 price tag. The campaign modes in both of these games are really great but also very short. But atleast Gears of War gave you the option of having Co-op campaign, unlike COD4.

Games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, Eternal Sonata, and Oblivion are all attractive titles for me. I feel like I get my money's worth out of all 4 games (especially Oblivion).

Oblivion is definitely the game for an enjoyable single player mode that can be played over and over again, as well as mass effect. Bioshock is an amazing game and probably the best fps for single players but i am not sure that it is completely worth the full price tag to buy but you should be able to find it used for a good discount that would make it well worth it.

Glad I'm not the only one that sees this as a problem. So far I do have Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, and Phantasy Star Universe. All are pretty satisfying in terms of single player content. Have Oblivion on the PC. Wasn't really asking for suggestions but mainly wondering if there was even a list. Perhaps one should be started. All the same, thanks though :).

I agree though abou the reviews. It would be nice if the reviews were straight forward about the aspects of the game. Review the single player, multiplayer, and perhaps co-op options seperately. I'm not knocking online play, I love it. I'm a huge MMORPG fan and have played RTS from time to time online as I'm a fan of those. I enjoy FPS but was never big on online play and the idea of heaving people trash talk me on Live and have to deal with bigoted speech isn't really ideal so I've kind kept Live at a distance since I got my 360 other then to get things off the marketplace (which is pretty good. Between that and the Virtual Console and soon to be WiiWare on the Wii I could go a while without buying "proper" games for either system I think). That's getting off topic though.

Granted if I had a PS3 this might not be a problem since online play is free there but having to pay for Live (which I'm sure is worth the price) just makes this more of an issue in the end I feel. Not really knowing how much focus a game will have between single player and online makes it even more annoying.
