Gamespot game of the year nominations is dodgy as

HI,

Has anyone noticed that with the nominations for game of the year there is only 1 game that was released for 3 platforms?

COD4 released for PC, PS3 and 360. Ofcourse it is leading the votes for game of the year as it has 3x the amount of ppl voting for it.

the Wii game Super Mario Galaxy is in second place with 16% of the votes and it is only for 1 platform.

There are more 360 games then other platform games which is good to see.

that 1 game has 3 times the audience so of course it will get 3x the vote.

you might not call it a dodgy election but a rigged election. maybe gamespot was paid to nominate COD4.

I like the game but nominations should be a bit fairer.

agree. Sure COD4 is a good game, I play it alot. But its not even close to being GOTY imo.

The GOTY nominations show that most of the people at Gamespot don't know what they're talking about. When Mass Effect doesn't win best story, it pretty much invalidates the entire event imo. The fact that 100% of the votes didn't give Crysis best technical graphics also contributes to rendering it invalid. There is NO game that is TECHNICALLY graphically superior to Crysis. Assassin's Creed is not artistically graphically superior to Galaxy or Eternal Sonata, either. Gah, the more I read, the less thecommunity gets correct =/ Gamespot community, epic fail!

Halo 3 should be an option in "most disappointing game" and win that award in my book :).

So because COD4 is on 3 platforms means the vote is rigged? Your an Idiot, COD4 was nominated because it's a great game 3x the votes? Not really people just buy it on their preferred platform. Doesn't mean it sells more copies because i doubt in total it shipped as many copies as Halo 3, it means people thought it was the best game of the year. For the game of the year to be a fair election, all games nominated should have been released on the 3 major platforms pc, 360 and ps3.

How won't you get 3 x the votes for COD4 compared to Halo 3?

1 vote from Pc user, 1 vote from ps3 user and 1 vote from 360 user for cod4

but with halo 3 since it is only released on the 360, you will get 1 vote from 360 user. the ps3 and pc user will not vote for a game they can not play ( obvously this excludes ppl who have all platforms or 2 platforms)

I am not trying to make this into a Halo 3 vs Cod 4 or a mass effect vs.

I was just pointing out that 1 gamein the nominations was released for 3 platforms. Thatgame happens to be COD 4

the voting has changed a bit since my OP. crysisanother game only releasedfor 1 platform has increased in its vote.

You will also notice there is a category for platform game of the year.

in fairness all nominations for platform game of the year should be exclusive releases for that particular platform.

then game of the year gets picked from a game that was released on all 3 platforms. I am not including Wii as I think they are more action/sports/movementbased games available atm.

im so tired of people trying to hate on gamespot. 360 has a ton of great games out.......so thats gamespots fault right. not sony's of wii for there crappy lineups. if i remember correctly too assassins creed was nominated atleast twice and thats on two platforms, and alot of games arnt on wii cause its technology is nowhere close to ps3 or 360. so had nintendo madea stonger system there probably would have been two game

I have to agree with you.

When I saw Mass Effect wasn't listed for GOTY, Best Story and Best Xbox 360 Game, I was highly disappointed. Not to mention that Metroid Prime 3 wasn't even listed for Best Wii Game. I guess since they didn't score atleast 9 they weren't allowed to be in the running. Crysis not having atleast 85% of the votes is also pretty ridiculous. Sure most can't even run it, but that doesn't mean it's not the best technically looking game out. Super Mario Galaxy, Odin Sphere and Eternal Sonata are all artistically better than BioShock and Assassin's Creed, and while those two games are my Top 5 favorite this year, they should not be the top two vote getters in that category.

The problem is that everyone is just voting for their favorite game. Oh well, I already know what my personal favorites are. I couldn't care less what anyone else's opinion is.
