Ok so there are lots of games i want to get in the coming weeks and the ones topping my list are Mercs 2, Rockband 2, Midnight Club LA, Saints Row 2, FIFA 09, Fable II, Far Cry 2 and most certainly TCs EndWar. (im not a Gears fan and i dont think about games which dont have exact dates hence Fallout 3 isnt on my list)

The problem is i'm a highschool senior and I want to end up in some fancy university and as a result im scared that such a long list would damage me final results as I only went through only 4 games which were very addictive last year.(Halo 3, COD4 and GTA IV; Assassin's Creed took me only 3 days to finish and havent touched it since.)

As the list shows, they are games with very good replay values specially Rockband 2 and FIFA 09 and so i dont know whether i can manage my studies as well as the games.

Do u think that list is ok or should i shorten it a bit and if so which ones should i definitely pick up?

Hmm, well Fable 2 looks like the only game that could really suck you in to complete the game, it's a role-playing game so they're bound to be long. Maybe you should skip that one? You could always play the games later after youäre done with high-school. The games will always be there; but another chance at High-school wont.

Well, mercs 2 shouldn't eat more then a few hours of play, well unless you are a fan of single player shooters. Fable 2 will take aeon's to "complete" from what i hear, but you never know, rpg's can be picked up and put down anytime though. hmm never a sports fan really so, I'd say Farcry looks like a good bet for you if you can control yourself and not splurge to much ^.^

*edit* forgot mercs 2 does have a 2 player co-op

It's called discipline. Learn it. Live it. Love it.

Helpful advice, truly.

If gaming is going to risk your college career then you should probably cut back and only get 2 or 3 of the games that you really want.

Another thing you could try is applying for scholarships. There are some that you can just apply for and don't require any particular achievement (such as straight A's).

I'm sort of in the same boat. I'm a junior is High school and am finding that if I want money to fix up my car, to go toward college, and all the other expenses of life I need to cut back on the games I buy.

It can be tough sometimes, but in the long run you'll be glad you did.

I would say just buy a few games at first, then sell the games that you don't like or don't want to play anymore at a gamestop or a videogame rental store

once you graduated from your fancy college and started a career you'll have plenty of money and time in the evenings and weekends to catch up on the games you missed while doing the smart thing and studying. Nobody will think your a loser because you never played Fable 2 until four years later because you were busy working and going to school but they WILL think your a loser if you picked Fable 2 opening day and then never made it to where you hoped.

You rack disciprine, true disciprine come from within.

Seriously I went through similar things playing WoW and others, all you need is discipline, learn when to pay attention to school because those games aren't going to go anywhere but I doubt you want to be a high school senior twice, or end up working at McD's right?

As a lot of people are saying you need to learn discipline. Cut the list down to a few and and go with just those. I mean if you can study and play games more power to you. If not, don't jeopardize a great future to play a couple games.
