Gears 2 weapons

im new to playing gears and I was wondering if the hammer of dawn counts as using a wepon for the challenge, "Variety is the Spice of Death." If it is how do I get 2 use it besides right at the end for the lambent bulmak. I beat that with the hammer of dawn but didn't get it. I have 14/15 weapons used. Another thing, can u kill an enemy with a smoke grenade?

I no i've never used the hammer of dawn besides for the lambent bulmak. where else can Ifind it during the story? The only other weapon im not so sure about is the torque bow. I remember picking it up butI dont remember using it.
