What is wong with my gears? When I place it in my system, the drive spins up and then acts like it forgot what it was doing, and if it does do anything, it gives me a disc read error but not the harmless "disc dirty" message its the one where it says "to play this disc, insert it into a 360 console" WHY IS A 360 EVEN PROGRAMMED WITH THIS MESSAGE? Anyway just wondering if anyone else had their Gears disc stop working out of the blue and if it happened to you did it turn out that it was the console? M$ service refuses to believe it could be the drive or console since my other games work. I haven't been able to try it in a new console yet but I really fail to see how a disc can suddenly "go bad" anyone else have this happen?

first of all, calm down. it kind of has to be programmed with that message. the disc doesn't have any scratches or anything on it at all? if not, try cleaning out the drive of dust. or, you could always try turning the 360 a different way, that might help...if nothing else, get the disc replaced. if none of those things work, you're pretty much SOL bro. sorry.
same thig happened to me but i just cleaned the disc and drive and it works fine now...only problem is gers of war is kind of boring me....man....i hate it when i get tired of my games uhhh
I'm perfectly calm, the reason I put that bit in caps is cause it seems a little,um, illogical for my 360 to say that. I mean sure if it said "please insert a 360 disc into this console" I'd understand.... I've tried it around 50 times so far cause I was just getting into the MP, actually it was the main reason I got a new XBL subscription
My first copy of GoW did this, make sure there isn't a crack in the disk, starting from the center of the disk upto about 1/4 of the way in. The problem you are describing in your post is the same as what my copy was doing.
Hey if I wanted to rant I could have, I'm just expressing a reasonable amount of frustration when my favorite game plays one day, and then refuses the next without even being taken from the console lol @agent luap no crack, but there is a little scratch/blemish near the center, I'm wondering if it was some critical bit of coding or something
WHOA WHOA WHOA CALM DOWN MAN DON'T GO AND KILL ANYONE NOW! In all seriousness, if only your gears game has this problem, and there is no crack, your CD is probably warped. This would especially be the case if you played really long marathons of the game. Also, your CD can warp if you live somewhere where it can get really hot, and you left your CD in your 360.
yeah that's what I hope the problem is, I need to run to a gamestore and see if theyll lend me a freshie to see if it works...im just worried cause my 360 has been ramping up the "unreadeable disc" frequency on my other games

sounds like your drive is dying..MS wont do anything until its dead...
all my games keep freezing on me and i always take very good care of all my games i think the xbox is the problem but i'll try to to see if i can find a way to clean it
