So I finally caved in a purchased Gears of War, got the collectors version for 50 dollars used, not bad.  It is truly an amazing game and the graphics look so good, too good actually.  I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this but I think gears of war is actually giving me headaches.  I have only played the game about 2-3 hrs total in the last 2 days and both times after playing it later that night i got a really bad headache.  I have never had this happen while playing video games and am debating if its just cause the seasonal allergies or the game and still cant figure it out.  Some say that when so much is going on on the screen you stop blinking which can cause headaches dont know if thats the case, if anyone else experiences this, just wondering.  Im not gonna quit playing its to amazing.

Sit further away or blink.  Or both.  Up to you.

Do you listen at full blast? See this happens with me for pretty much any game, if I play it for a few hours straight without stopping I get a really bad headache. I just take little breaks in between playing to rest my eyes and I can generally avoid getting headaches. Gears of War did give me this headache relatively quickly, but I still could get rid of it by taking breaks. Games have different effects on people. I can't play Prey for over a few minutes or I feel like I'm going to throw up. My brother can't play Medal of Honor for the same reason.

I think im gonna try it one more time, like i said i have only played it a few hours total so far. I'll give it one more try and if i get a headache from it again ill prolly take it back and get a different game cause these are like migrain like headaches so its not really worth it though the game really is amazing.

Are you used to playing these type of games? It´s very intense and that can be the cause.

Are you playing on a DLP HDTV?  If so they are known to give some people headaches (like me, my friend has one and I can't watch it).

Make sure your 360 is in 480. Sometimes if it tries to do 720 on an SDTV, it can look funny. I have never heard of this causing headaches, but you never know. Also, try some Asprin right before you play.

Its likely the motion blur, when I got my PC and played UT2004 it was a little weird to play, I am used to 360 so like 30fps, but when UT was going at 100fps it was making me feel a bit strange and my eyes felt strained, try taking a few breaks, Gears has very heavy motion blur so its likely that, lot of people said it about COD2 when that came out, it was running at 60fps so people were likely used to 30fps. Motion blur is a cheap way to make it look smoother near 60fps rather than 30fps.
