Gears of War 1 or 2?

I've never played Gears of War before, but it looks cool and I only had enough money to rent one, because I'm poor, and was wondering if the first or second was better.

They say you should play them in order, but the second one looks better to me.

Which one should I go with?

I think I'll rent the second one since that one looks more appealing to me anyway and likely more fun.

I would go with Gears 2. It has better gameplay overall. They are both good but Gears 2 is better.

I rented Gears of War 2 and I'm excited to try it out.

The second is onlymarginally better than the first imo. So I'd go with the first so you have the story from the start.
