I saw it on **** a couple of weeks ago, and I was like what?!?! But the point is that isn't Microsoft going to do anything about it?

Or, they just intentionally leaked it as another measure of detecting the modded consoles, and subsequently imposing bans on them?

Your thoughts? Thanks!

PS. I feel bad that most of us have to bear the costs of video games (development cost, production cost, etc.), while they're playing for free. It pisses me off every time when I think about it.

They're going to get whats coming to them when the NXE update comes out. I much rather play for my games. So what its GBP40, its better than having a bricked console.

Right on! Can't stand it too if they can just burn the update on DVD, like all the updates up to now, and later use it to update their banned consoles. Microsoft should come up with some measures that prevent them from doing this.

Piracy has been around forever and it will always be around. You can't beat them. There is no point getting mad about it. Before they even attempt to get rid of piracy on consoles they will have to stamp the bigger issues

PC software, Music, movies.

computers are easy to hack but consoles are harder

Microsoft has a team always going threw peoples gamertags seeing if someone is playing a game befor its release but then it takes awhile to go threw permission from the Microsoft heads to get the ban finalized

Its like a big game of cat and mouse. Pirates find a way of getting around the anti-hack protection. companies invest in better protection, pirates find ways around it. A big cycle.

I think people have found away around that, I was playing with a guy on UNO who was making a big commotion about his xbox being chipped.

look at it this way. Have you EVERr got a song of the internet without paying? EVER watched a movie, or show online without paying? EVER played a game or used a emulator without owning both the console or the game? If you answer no to all these questions your a better perosn than most. the thing is that this problem is all around. And plus the way the poster says that the thought of ppl getting games early and for free makes him mad, sounds more like hes jealous, and ill just bet that if someone offered for free, he would take them up.

its a BANNED console not a BRICKED console, a bricked console mircosoft does with the RROD

a banned console only limits your online play......... so for some ppl they dont care especially when your a parent and have two kids who play games.

buy yes, when companies complain about piracy and still make the availible hardware and software, theres something to be said

point taken but for people like me when play online a lot, a banned console is about as useful as a bricked one.

There's a guy on my friends list who has Gears 2 and Banjo Kazooie. He also had Saints Row 2, Far Cry 2 and Fable II weeks before their release, he's downloaded games illegally more or less since the 360 launched and M$ have never banned his console online. Makes me think M$ could be doing a lot more in the way of banning accounts for pirated games, I know some people have separate offline-only xboxes they use for pirated games but with the omus on multiplayer now I imagine most pirates would want to play the majority of these games online.

I guess somebody would have to report him before MS notices.

thats why you shouldnt step into the black market. most gamers who play games and dislike the blackmarket scene, see their costs in gaming as an investment. and are proud to own what they have even if its a high total price. BUT for the majority, everyone wants a deal and and if sometimes meaning they have to step into the blackmarket, get a product that is not 100% functionaly (xbox without xbl) then they will do it.

My biggest point was that companies who are pushing their consoles, computer, etc are also the ones selling hardware and software that allows for the general public to pirate.

Thank you for your faulty assumption. Now, why would I want to rip someone off by playing pirated games and so on? Besides, I could have easily done that if I wanted to. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't have started this thread from the first place. Think about it.

But the point that I was trying to make is that most people are paying a lot of money for their games, and I feel that it is not fair for all of us that some groups of people can reap benefits from the very thing that most of us have to pay for, while costing them not even a fraction of what we pay for. That sh*t ain't right. It ain't about who play what first.

Without gamers who purchase the legal copies of most games, the software piracy would only exist in a dream since you wouldn't have anything to hack, crack, rip, etc. from the start.

And on the pc, the honest gamers gets a worse product then the pirates, because they add install limits and what not.

lol some of those people were lucky that slow employees sold the game. some stores "a game stop i wen to" had abig ars sign that "said do not sell till given date". im not saying that this is happening on this large of a scale but it does happen.

as for my view about piracy. i dont care like some one else said and listed all the free things you have gotten via the internet; music movies etc. your just as bad period. but having my console banned i wouldnt ever risk that. id rather wait for the release date and pay full price.

blah blah piracy something blah blah blah... you want to end piracy? then do something about it and stop complaining. the fact is, people love free stuff. say you were walking down the road, and someone offered you a free copy of gears 2. you're going to take it right? think about it, long and hard. you likely would take it, and saying otherwise is nonsense. now, say you were to find out it was stolen. would you turn it in to the police? probably not... it's human nature. personally i feel that if it's out there and if you know how to get it, then go ahead. if you really wanted to put a stop to it, go after those leaking the games, not those downloading them. seriously, you're looking at the issue the wrong way...

I appreciate the efforts of the topic creator to keep this thread on the rails of legality, but implicit in the premise of the thread is having knowledge of gmaeplay elements that would only be known to people who have obtained it illegally. I'm closing this before it becomes a moderator's full time job to moderate.
