and how is the online play for gears 2 because im am thinking about getting both soon

Yeah, people still play Gears 1. Gears 2 used to be pretty laggy with the horrible coding and all, but its better now. Finding a match still takes forever though.tktomo01

gears 2 multiplayer seems like it might be fun if you got the hang of it, then you get a laggy game and shoot someone point blank with the shotgun like 10 times and they kill you with one shot.

I have yet to decide how I feel about this game (just rented it). My favorite multiplayer mode is annex, though.

alot of people still play Gears 1...Gears 2 is fun but it will probably piss you off because it has too much lag

GeOW1 & 2, are must plays IMO. Even if you ONLY play the campaign.

Multi-player is far from perfect, but all the pissing about it is when your trying to play people from the OS. If you have local friends it should run fine. If you cant find a local game, whichdoes happen a bit I must admit, you can always play The Horde. Internet speed is a no brainer for that one because its you and 5 mates Vs waves of AI.

I have never played either game, but might I suggest the reason why 2 is so laggy online, is because it is the newest game? Could be that everyone is playing it now because it is the newest, and when the majority of players go to the new one, so do the majority of people with bad connections.

gears of war 2 offline multiplayer is quite laggy aswell i suppose however it only seems to be on jacinto...which is odd. it just gets a massive drop in FSP when things get hectic. i still love playing it though, but ill probably stop when prototype comes out.

I am playing the first Gears campaign at the moment, and I have to decide if I am going to get Gears 2.

I tried to go back to GOW1, but I noticed that lag was still pretty bad and it is only lessened because its 4v4, rather than 5v5. I hate 4v4 and I really hate getting killed with one shot when someone rodie runs next to me. What is the deal with that garbage?

Gears 2 online is improving...less lag nowadays etc. I think it's good...I've never tried Gears 1 online though

The campaign in both Gears games are epic, so that's reason enough for me to keep playing them...also Gears 2's offline multiplayer has the best bots.;)

Theres normally 20,000+ on GoW1 which is more than Halo Wars, GoW2 takes forever to find a game on it and theres a 30% chance its lagg g gg gy.... but if u find a decent lagg free game with loads of nooObs it toatally worth the wait:D

I enjoyed Gears 2 much more than Gears 1. I was really never a fanof it, I was really frustrated by Gears 2 multiplayer before. But then when I drop it and started to play other games, I realized how much fun Gears 2 had brought to me before. It's really a great game, campaign and multiplayer. Then I started to go back to play Gears 2 multiplayer, even though sometimes istill get frustrated, but thats usually not the game's problem, its ourselves... we usually blame anything but ourselves...

1. People may suck at Gears 2 therefore hated it.You cannot compare it with ANY other shooters because Gears 2multimostly are close quarter combat.I was REALLY bad before, even though I dont have a great temper, but for somehow I become better, and started to love Gears 2 multiplayer.

2. People who played too much Gears 1 may dislike Gears 2 because they already got used to Gears 1, so when they play Gears 2 online and died, "WTF, Thats impossible! I will be pwning in Gears 1, Gears 2 suck!"

3. Matchmaking sometimes do take long... but when it takes too long, try to cancel it and retry, you will find a match within a minute. On average, I can find a match around 1-3 minutes, over 3 minutes, means you have to retry. And btw, I don't even have my NAT opened.

4. Some games do lag, its because of Host Advantage, if you are decent in Gears 2, but you are the host, then you will have most kills. But remember, Gears 2 is 5v5, host advantage is greater than if its in CoD which has more people, CoD also has lag, but its a medium range game, you usually don't notice. But in Gears 2, with close combat, any tiny lag is very significant. But again, you get unlucky if you get into bunch of laggy games in a row, but you still get a lot of good hosts, which doesn't lag, thats when you get the most fun out of Gears 2 multiplayer.

i don't deny the fact that Gears 2 has flaws, but it is such an awesome game. It is frustrating sometimes, like many other games that bring the worst of you, but it is still enjoyable when you get a kill.
