I think it's awesome that the smoke only stuns you, rather than downing you; however, the 4v4 thing is so stupid. You get far less points per game seeing as there is 1/5 of the team playing. It's just silly--except for the smoke grenade thing which is awesome!

4v4 will definitely help the lag. I find the most annoying thing about GoW2 is the matchmaking. It takes me forever to find a party and join a game!

I hate it. I can't wait until the weekend is over so Gears 2 goes back to being the way it was.

I never mentioned the old Gears being good... :?

If you're talking about Gears of War 2, I miss not being able to knock down the people thatr chainsaw all the time with the smoke grenade. I also miss 5 vs. 5. I prefer Gears of War 2 multiplayer over Gears of War multiplayer.

Well, I have to disagree. I prefer 5 vs. 5 with bigger gun battles and more people to take down. I used smoke grenades all the time to knock down someone when they were trying to chainsaw me.

For those of you planning to fill the upcoming long weekend with a little Gears 2, we've got something special in the works for you. From Friday, May 22, at 9 AM EST, through Tuesday, May 26, at 9 AM EST, Public multiplayer matches are going the way of Gears 1 in an "old school" weekend event, featuring four-on-four teams and Smoke Grenades without their concussive blast. These changes affect the Execution - Warzone, Annex - KOTH, Guardian - Submission and DLC playlists only, and remember-these are Gears 1 rules. Only four to a team!"

The smoke/4v4 is technically only this weekend, but there's such positive feedback on the new smoke, I doubt it's going to go back to the way it was.

4v4, however, the reaction is quite mixed. There isn't such an overwhelming majority, as with the smoke, wanting to keep 4v4 permanent. I personally think the games got a little bit...boring? For the lack of a better word. Anyways, I'll like the return of 5v5, but I'm fine if they keep the new smoke. The old smoke caused way too many glitches, and could be very cheap in the hands of a dirty player. Good riddens.

If Epic wants to bring it back to what made them millions, they have to get back the fast run and gun gameplay like the awesome Gears 1. I play both, but nothing is like 1. Give us the Shoot right after running, make the pop out of cover and shoot mechanics faster, bring back the old shotty, bring back all the mechanics from gears 1, and put it on gears 2 beautiful graphics = Instant classic.

Maybe some people abuse the smoke grenade, but I think people that chainsaw all the time are cheap and I used my smoke to knock them down.

Haha, fair enough. Both of them do get annoying.

Ive been enjoying the weekend a lot myself so far. My reasoning is pretty simple though. As somebody genuinly new to GoW2 multiplayer (I just hit level 8 yesterday) these changes make the game a lot less hectic. Though I still get gibbed for sure, it doesnt feel like its happening all-the-time anymore. In general things just arent as overwhelming. For a newbie, it gives me some much needed breathing room until I can improve a bit more.
