I didn't think it was that bad... I thought it was repetitive and that, coupled with the fact that I wasn't very good at it, made me want to go on to other things. I played Gears for about a month and then discovered Rainbow Six.

Coming from years of Quake, Quake 2, Quake 3, and CS, it's safe to say that those were much more fun (and difficult to get good at) than GoW. Rainbow Six Vegas had much better multiplayer.
I owned the game since it came out. It's a good game but the multiplayer is completly based on connections more than any other game i've ever played online. And the host advantage is just ridiculious sometimes.
it isnt dead the xbox live servers are dead they will be getting fixed comon gears doesnt go from hero to zero in a day it was fine yesterday but today was like one game for me but check weekly leader boards people are playing so some things are brock the now i think its uk servers
thank you martin tell em, thats exactly right the servers are all screwed up, I was just on about 30 mins ago and found about 3 player matches, couldnt find any ranked. Xbox Live has all been screwy since christmas. hopefully it gets resolved soon
better of dead it gets boring after awhile espcially when noobs come they ruin it just as bad as glitching and the multiplayer achievment recognition it took me 267 grenade tags to get the achievment and dont forget bullet lag.
I love GOW, and i play it everyday, the community is definatley NOT DEAD, just the servers are dead right now, I honestly like gears of war more then any other multiplayer game (excluding SC) it just never gets old to me, and i just laugh at the people who talk S%&^, people need to learn how to calm down, and not take everything so seriously

Yeah I can understand that, It used to be the same for me, Now I have some ppl from my own country though and I don't even have to play ranked to get kicks out of it. GOW online is more entertaining than anything else imo, less rewarding than cod4 but still really fun (if u have the right ppl on ur friendslist)
Oh, and it's probably the xbl problem, I can't join any sessions right now, can't wait till they give us another update
COD4 isn't nearly as addictive as GOW online combat for me atleast ever heard of game called Warrock it seems thats where they get their rank system from along with the upgraded weapons.

I actualy stopped playing it for the exact opposite reason. Anyway, it was so repetative/ boring. I'd much rather 'PWN' at something a little more difficult.

Maybe its because the shotgun was overly powerful, which made almost any other gun besides the sniper rifle useless.
im no fan of online gears but any game where a shotgun cant totally kill or nearly kill from close up personal range where they going for some balance of relism aint selling the shot gun as it shud. fact is a shotgun to the guts or face is gona kill from within 3-4meters like. they pure beasts. games shud balance them by making reloads take ages , and limit to relisitc amount of shots before reload which is about 2 i think
but i never had that much fun online. to me i much prefer the games from the 1st person view for multiplayer, 3rd person view suits more the campain games. but unreal 3 coming out so that will cater for me. still love the single player like only done it on easy still going on hardcore then will go for insane but never will do insane as im not that good. will deffos get gears 2 unless im warned off it by most magazines and sites which i cant see happening as doubt its going to change that much

yeah i think thats why he thinks its dead ya hit the nail on the head, i can honestly see people playing gears for a long time still even when the xbox 360 is about to move onto something new. its got that cult following like halo gets. and people still cain number 2. look how much people stick up or compare it to other games. people wont ditch it or it wud of faded out by now
its the average games that aint that popular that loose all they players online, stuff that never had many players to begin with when it was new. the best games will keep a online scene going for as long as people keep the consoles. i reckon ya will still have no bother getting a game in 2-3 years easy, only game that cud kill its comminity off wud be its sequel then they probs balance it out more and people who cained the easy kills probs not like it for that reason and stay in the old game, happens a bit when poor players cant win using the old tricks, they always the first to slag the new game out for that reason
