i got gears of war when it came out and i loved it so much i never played it past the first part(note the sarcasm).
then why buy gears 2? partly because i am retarded and partly because i am a completist, if that is a word. i have yet to play through any of the nwn2 games but i have them all. yes im a waste of life but gears 2 was enjoyable enough to actually motivate me to play through.
Both weren't all that great to me, but they were good, and in my opinion, Gears 2 is better. Though I've found that veterans of the Gears 1 multiplayer seem to always like Gears 1 more.
def gears 1, the single player wasn't as good in gears 1, but the multiplayer was the greatest that I have ever played. There was almost nothing wrong with Gears 1 online... Gears 2 has got a great single player, but the multiplayer is crap. The online always lags, it takes forever to find a game in the first place, the maps are kinda one dimensional compared to the 1'st one, and the matchmaking was better in theory rather than how they executed it.
